ta8088
Need some help from you 196 experts (we all know who you are). Not really sure what I have here. Is this the old case 196? I bought it last fall second hand from a member over at RG and he may have even bought it from someone else. I have a 7753 donor watch sitting here, the newer 196 and 188 dials, Lello DW, and gen auto crown. Just not sure if this is what I need or not. ta8088
Sure is! Sweet! Thanks chief! It's funny I've been searching and trying to dig up an old case 196 for a couple months and wouldn't you know it looks like the one I've had one sitting here all along. Back when I got this in the fall there were actually two different sellers I was talking to. One had just bought it a month earlier from a dealer and the other had bought his used from another member and thought it was about a year old. I thought I had bought the newer one but turns out I passed on it because the seller wanted close to new price and went with this one instead. Think I got this for like $200. Now bigger question will the 7753 work in this? and will the date pusher work? Date pusher works but the mvt spacer blocks it.
HauteHippie
Someone here probably knows the answer to the 7753 retrofit question. I myself do not know. Mine had a 7753 in the first place. Good luck!
Mickey Padge
You will need a hole in the movement holder, and a flint sized piece of metal, to alow the date button to work, that is if the date button is built and sprung correctly... Cheers!
Watchmeister
Exactly what Mickey said. But you may want a dial as well and depending on the generation of 7750 movement in your watch you may need new hands or to broach the existing one. First gen A7750 has properly sized hands though.
