dylan
Ok, So my PAM love is the 7753 188 & 196. TT, Mickey, & Stephane have gorgeous ones...and unfortunately I didn't have the funds to pick up Mickey's...well worth it...but a man's got to eat... In the meanwhile, I picked up an ETA 7753 PAM 188 from a contact outside of the forums...Our dealers have told me they're out of stock...One dealer in particular said he had them, but my incessant questions I think drove him mad, and the next email he told me he was out of stock. So my plan was to buy the 7753 188 & 196....but after the 188 order I was tapped out. I was a little bummed, because I lean towards the 196 over the 188...but I forum friend that has one, and he'll let it go to me if he ever sells it...since I didn't know anyone willing to let their 188 go in the future, I went with that. Plus, I knew I'd spend less...probably won't get relume (I would of on the 196) and it comes with single sided AR which is good enough for me on a white dial. So here's a pic of the actual watch I'll be getting tomorrow. Anyways...I've read the threads about old case vs. new case & really the biggest distinction is in the higher bezel... But more importantly, I really want to know which cases can fit an ETA 7753, and to me I always thought it was the date pusher placement. So randomly I came across an A7750 PAM 250... Anyways it arrived today and it looks good. Has a thick crown reminiscent of Ruby's 036 & Angus 111E. It has single sided AR which makes the dial easy to read & the datefont is quite BOLD...different from some A7750 daylights that have thin/light datefont. MINE: But the interesting thing is the date pusher button is in the correct place for an ETA 7753. Now I've only seen A7750 Daylights with the pusher button in the wrong place. My feeling is there must be different 'factories' building the daylight. The thick crown/correct date pusher, I think comes from the same place that makes the 7753 version, thus it makes it hopeful that I can use this case for a future 7753 project. Below are some pics from a dealer's site. I know in all these pics the bezel is polished and should be brushed, but I don't think there is relevance in that for this discussion. I think where the 7753 is coming from is the same source that is building the 2006 version...its only a hunch of course. But they use the same dial with thick crown/correct datepusher location First pic is of a stock 7753 PAM 250 Second & third pic is what the dealer calls, 2006 version. 4th & 5th pic is what the dealer calls New Asia PAM 250: So what's the point of this? These are some superficial observations I've made, and I like some daylight experts that have been collecting for a while to maybe chime in with some wisdom. Bottom line is I wonder if my 250 can be fitted with 7753 mvmt in the future...I suppose I need to look inside and check out the pushers/mvmt holders/etc... deltatahoe
hi dave, i could have sworn yellowmen provided a good review of the correct case 196 (for being able to drop in a 7753 movement); i can seem to find it now. in the meantime, there is a thread here and another here about these cases... good luck with the project deltatahoe
