Speedmaster Quartz?

I have a friend that has a white Omega Speedmaster Chrono. The seconds is at the 6 subdial and it is definitely quartz. Did Omega ever make a watch like that? It looks fake to me but I to be sure before I call his watch out. He said he bought it from some "dude" for $100. I know, you want pics. I'll see what I can do.

I didn't mean in a bad way. He's always wondered if it's real, what the chance of buying a gen Omega on the street for $100? Crack prices excluded. He loves my BCE, knows it's a rep and since I have another BCE (v1) on the way because I want the UTC bracelet, I'm going to put a regular bracelet on it and give it to him. He has already been instructed on the "entering a AD" rule.
