dabouncer72
Hi all, I was just wondering this because on Puretime Angus's site I saw some watches you can add an option of $20 to do single AR coating. How good is single AR, and is it worth $20? Thanks, Dabouncer
chillininla
single AR is half as good as double. Just kidding, Seriously, -rep single AR is nothing compared to after-market double AR. But It all depends on the watch you're considering. If the Gen version of the watch has single AR, the $20 option will be good enough and well worth it, but if the Gen has double AR, i'd go with the aftermarket AR service from one of our moders here. LordRasta
Obviously not as good as double AR, but since it's on the inside of the crystal, it's almost impossible to scratch it.
Shundi
Double AR is a beautiful thing to behold (esp on something like the Superocean Heritage I just received ) however as LordRasta said, single sided won't scratch if it's internal... decisions decisions.... sssurfer
Don't expect the look of double AR. Single AR is very subtle. Reflections from the crystal's inner side only account for about 25-30% of the whole reflection, so you are not going to get any stunning effects. The best effect of single AR is erasing reflections from the cylops. If your watch is dateless, it is pretty unworth. Still, as you are asking about single side AR I assume you are interested in a PAM. Single side AR is the one of genuine PAMs. So, if it is real AR and not just a blue tint, at $20 you may go for it even on a dateless watch. im2
If your watch is dateless, it is pretty unworth. I strongly disagree.... Single AR is probably less than half owrth of double AR but it still looks much much better than no AR
HauteHippie
I'd not pay $20 for rep single AR, personally.

I absolutely agree, B. That is why I said "if it is real AR...". Personally, I would pay to remove rep AR.
