post-17380-1224926352_thumb.jpgpost-17380-1224926231_thumb.jpgHi need help

Purchased Patek Philippe rose gold in 2005. Winder has broken off the side of the watch. A friend replaced it with another and that has broken also. Have enclosed pictures. Need help to replace and repair. Can anyone help me as to where to go. Offshore cannot help as he lives in Australia. Really desperate to repair as i love this watch. Also seems there is a black seal in the back which wasn't there before? :(

Mjg060468,

Well the good news is that it doesnt seem to be a huge problem. The black thing just appears to be the gasket for the caseback. If it isnt pinched in half or otherwise damaged, it just needs to be put back in its place. There are plenty of tutorials on the forum showing similar procedures. Likewise, it apears as if the crown was broken at the proximal not the distal end. Once the back is off and the seal is placed in its position, it should be a relatively easy fix to replace. Again there are plenty of tutorials of how to do it your self on the forum. Use the search button to start your repair.

If not, there are many rep friendly watchmakers all over the place and like I said (to my untrained eye) it appears to be an easy fix. What part of the world do you live?

Good luck!

Thank you for your response. I live in England. Are these reputable watchmakers able to replace the missing winder.

They should be able to. You need to find a replacement first. I think you will be surprized how quickly the repair should be.. (15-20 minutes).

I think you could probably do it yourself with a few basic tools. I understand about being hesitant.... this can be pretty intimidating. Read first,

then do... (measure twice, cut once) If not, I believe that there are many members on the forum that know of a good rep friendly watchmaker in England/EU

that could help you out...

Good luck!

Adding to what Adrenalin said, the crown (missing) needs to be replaced. From your pics, it is hard to tell whether the stem is broken or whether the crown simply unscrewed from the stem & fell off, leaving the stem intact

The stem must be matched to the movement in your watch, which looks to be a lemania/venus clone, but hard to tell without a good, clear macro (close-up) picture. Any professional watchmaker will be able to get & replace the stem, if in fact it is broken. However, the crown may be more difficult since replica watch crowns vary according to which factory made the watch. If you can find another collector/seller who is selling the same watch you have, check with them to see if they can get you a replacement crown. If they will not sell you the crown separately, see if they have another watch like yours that is damaged or a customer return that you can buy at a discount (it does not matter if the case is scratched or dented or if the movement does not work since, right now, you just need the crown & possibly the stem). That way, you can take the crown off the 2nd watch & put it on yours. Then you can keep the rest of the 2nd watch for future parts.
