Marky1012
Hey fellas, I'm just building up the courage to purchase my first Rep, which will be the Hublot BB SS Black Dial. I have been looking on Angus's site and there are two options available: The first is the standard version at $428 - but includes AR Coating both sides. The second is the Lite version at $248 plus $20 for a single AR Coating. From the information provided it does not appear that there are any other differences. My question is - is the 2 sided AR coating worth the additional $160 being charged? Any help greatly appreciated. Marky1012
chronoluvvv
rep A/R is exactly what it says ... REP A/R aftermarket by Chieftang is damn near invisible however it takes some effort to get it so the choice is yours if you plan to keep the watch, do it right if not, get whatever ya can afford and ride it out for what its worth
Marky1012
Good point - best I do a bit more saving! Thanks
deemaster
I agree with chronoluvvv... only thing to keep in mind is that the first thing you notice on the gen (well, most people notice) is the incredibly clear crystal. Hublot's AR practically makes people think your watch has no crystal... sometimes even do a double take. When the light does glair off the crystal is has a very deep colorful luster to it... not just clear glass. Anyway, the difference between the Lite and a double AR does affect the overall look of the watch. If money's tight... get the lite and wear it until you've had a good thrill and then send it off to one of the talents here on this site and have them do the AR. (I've seen many spontaneous media photos of Mr. Biver that include a casual wristshot of his BB... and even those unplanned shots make the crystal look invisible... I can see the hands and hour markers clearly from the 20 odd feet the photographer was standing away...sweet)
donpedro
Anything less double AR is an immediate tell on these babies... As someone pointed out, the best option available (to achieve a gen look) is sending the crystal off to chief to have him AR it. I have it done on one of my pieces and it's absolutely amazing. But it takes some effort and time. So it's all about how anal you are. On the ss/ss (which doesn't have any texture on the dial that needs to be brought out), I think factory double AR will be totally ok! Good luck! pedro
Marky1012
Thanks guys, I am so impressed that you make the effort to offer advice. I'm gonna go for the more expensive option from Angus. The g/f will have to buy one less pair of shoes this month!
