Watch Mailing Preparation

Personally, if it was a bracelet watch, such as Sub, or SMP, I would put a piece of cardboard inside the bracelet, just to prevent it knocking against itself and scuffing up the caseback. I would then wrap the whole thing in several layers of bubblewrap, place in a bubblewrap-lined envelope and post. If it was a watch on a strap (without a deployant clasp) I would simply wrap it in bubblewrap, and then bubblewrap-lined envelope. I guess you could always substitute the bubblewrap-lined envolope for a small box...

I received a watch once that was encased in a length of pipe insulation. You know, the foam-like stuff you buy at the hardware store used to wrap and insulate the pipes in your basement. Simply split it and make a sandwich with your watch; hold the mayo.

Buy some expanding foam place the watch in a sandwich bag spray in the foam and it will never be rattled about - lol.

No seriously, the better it is padded the less chance that it will slip and slide and grate. Bubblewrap, cardboard, small jiffy and then pop in a larger one. You could then kick it all the way to its ultimate destination.

I have never given it much thought about whether to charge the watch or not but I would certainly leave the crown in for the reasons given above.
