bertieng Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Will the gen. dial and hand set fit straight onto the Zenith 400 movement? Or different cannon pins are used in the 4030 movement? The Daytona franken experts please chim in. Thanks.
bertieng Posted November 25, 2008 Author Report Posted November 25, 2008 Understand the El Primero 400 has the date function as well, did Daytona just removed this function to transplant into the 16520. What was the exact El Primero used in the 16520? Saw the original Zenith has different cal. such as 400, 400Z etc. Thanks.
Guest Sql_pl Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Dial fits el primero perfectly. Hands need to be adjusted (squeezed) to fit regular el primero pinions. You also need to remove date mechanism in order to fit movement to the case. Good luck with your project. I am almost on the finishing lap now with mine!
bertieng Posted November 25, 2008 Author Report Posted November 25, 2008 Thanks sql. So all the hands have to be squeezed to fit the pinions on the regular El Primero? Which cal. is correct? Or just any 400 series will do? Please post pictures of yours when the project is done. Thanks.
kikom3 Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Any El primero movement will work. Ebel 134, 3019 PHC found in Movado Datrons, Zenith 400s
bertieng Posted November 25, 2008 Author Report Posted November 25, 2008 Thanks for all the info guys. This is why RWG is a lovely place. BTW, wonder how does the movement fix into the case. Is it something like the ETA's using screws and blades rather that the traditional Rolex locking screws into the groove?

bertieng Posted November 26, 2008 Author Report Posted November 26, 2008 Any El primero movement will work. Ebel 134, 3019 PHC found in Movado Datrons, Zenith 400s The 3019 PHC in Movado Datrons only is 17 jewels only, is it functioning different than the 400. Also confused with the beat rate of the movements - should it be 28K, 31K or 36K bpm? For sure the 4030 has 36K. So, what will be the effect of lower beats in the El Primero? Thanks.
kikom3 Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 The 17 Jewels will still work and is the same movement with less jewels. 4030 is not 36k. Rolex modified the movement run at a lower 28800 bph. The 400 runs at 36000 bph. Datrons also came with 31 jewels. I believe the 17j is for the US market. During that time watch imports were taxed on the number of jewels. ps. did u see the pics? The 3019 PHC in Movado Datrons only is 17 jewels only, is it functioning different than the 400.
