Navitimer died, but it will still work for a few seconds

I purchased a Navitimer Serie Special about 5-6 months ago, and last week it finally died. I was a little curious so I took off the caseback. Here is what I noticed: When I try to push the start button for the chrono, it won't push all the way in, but when I let go of the button the balance wheel and the second hand turn for a few seconds then stop. Does anyone have any idea of what the problem could be? I'm not very knowledgeable with watch movements, but I'm willing to try and fix it myself if possible.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Mike

My suggestion would be to re-install the caseback and have a watchmaker look at it for you. The 7750 is a very complex movement, and not something you want to try and fix yourself.

Without the proper training, tools, work standards, etc, you stand a better chance of causing expensive damage, than you do of fixing it.

As to what is actually wrong, very difficult to tell, it could be one of many many things.
