49mm vintage Lex on the bay

Hi fellows,

I found this on the bay and was amazed by the size, 49mm case. Is it "simply" a modified pocketwatch? Or was it made like this originally?? To my noob eyes, it looks like a pocketwatch with added lugs and a crown swap.

EDIT: HAVING CHECKED THE SELLER'S STUFF OUT AND LOOKED AT IT A LITTLE MORE I GUESS IT MUST BE A MODDED POCKETWATCH. STILL CURIOUS ABOUT ITS VALUE THOUGH.
