It should be serviced with in a reasonable time period after you receive the watch. The Zigmeisters movement reviews are very helpful. The search function is your best friend. I know that getting a watch is the first order business. All I can say is the more reading you do, the more you will understand this hobby as a whole. Toads Noob guide is a very good place to start.
