oberblender Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 Hi, I'm awaiting 127 davidsen dial and hands. I read that they're to big to fit in normal cases. I just couldn't find a tutorial/how-to reduce the dial size. Are you supposed to file it, cut it or how am I supposed to do this without screwing it? thanks in advance for your ideas!
siesta181 Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 I understand that for Fiddy, the movement is inserted from the front. I could be wrong though....
oberblender Posted March 11, 2009 Author Report Posted March 11, 2009 there are different versions... the new one is the one where you need to put in the dial from the front... my version is the "old" version where you put in the dial from the back side.
chubbchubb Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 In any case, to reduce the diameter, use fine sanding paper, wear rubber gloves (to not get fingerprints on the dial) and put the sanding paper on a flat surface, sanding side up. Then sand the edge of the dial in a circular motion (you can do about one fourth of the dial in one sweep). Rotate the dial to the next quarter, sand, rotate, sand, rotate.... and don't forget to check the size inbetween. You need a bit of pressure to do the sanding and so the trick is to not ruin your dial with one uncontrolled motion. Take your time, don't rush.
oberblender Posted March 13, 2009 Author Report Posted March 13, 2009 thank you! I hope I won't screw up!
oberblender Posted April 6, 2009 Author Report Posted April 6, 2009 after all it wasn't even necessary... it just fit in perfectly... seems to be an old problem or I was just lucky with my case!
