355spider Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 I'm new to this so try not to laugh to hard. What the heck does it mean when I see these adds that say @7 or @12 when referring to a watch?
offshore Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 It is referring to the positioning or location of something on, or in relation to the dial. For instance, if it is said " date at 6" you would find the date box at 6 o'clock on the dial. Mainly used for where the date window is located, however other items may be referred to , eg. helium valve @10! Not a silly question at all. Glad you asked. Offshore

What the heck does it mean when I see these adds that say @7 or @12 when referring to a watch? There are no stupid questions, (within reason,) only stupid answers; and most of us are somewhere on the noob spectrum. Do your homework and if you still have questions, ask. That's what I do. You'll have other questions on terminology, no doubt. Here's a good post that Watchdog put together: http://www.rwg.cc/members/Watch-movement-G...ary-t77684.html
355spider Posted April 22, 2009 Author Report Posted April 22, 2009 Makes total sense now. I should have figured that one out.
