ASkiBum
Have my Seawolf pressure tested today. Tested to 1000 meters on a Rolex certified machine at a local watchsmith. This is a straight out of the box rep. I never opened the case. Not bad! EDIT - It looks like the apprentice watchsmith might have been wrong...from googling it appears that the certified machines only go to 3atm, or 100 feet. trailboss
1000m? Wow mate. Exactly what brand of tester are they useing? Most ADs can only test to 300 max. Are you shure it wasn't 1000 feet? I am having trouble with the concept of any rep doing 1000m since most gens won't. Col.
ASkiBum
This one was from Mark at Time shop. It was the apprentice watchsmith who did the testing, so he might have been confused. I asked him if he meant feet, but he said meters. He called over a few of the salesmen and they all seemed surprised. It's at a Humblot, Graham AD. (they normally don't deal with Brietlings, so it seemed "repsafe".) I wasn't able to see the equipment they used as it is in the back, behind the cases in a separate room. offshore
The only one I know of which will do 1000m is the Sigma, out of Switzerland. But it needs a seperate compressor, and booster, to raise the necessary pressure. This is a serious bit of kit, and would be for specialised applications only, ....methinks the apprentice doesn't know his conversion tables all that well! 100m or 330ft is way beyond a depth a SCUBA diver on air can dive, without dying, so there is no real reason for normal watch shops to test beyond this. And as the cost of equipment increases at about X5 the depth tested there are few shops who go beyond 100m. Glad to hear of a rep testing like that out of the box. Unfortunately, it doesn't mean the next one of that model will do the same, it could fail at 1m! That's reps I guess. O/S
trailboss
Yeah, that's a serious piece of gear for a Hublot/ Graham AD. Do either of those have a watch proof to 1000m ? Strange they had a Rolex aproved tester there as well. Rolex usualy don't let certified gear out of their sight. Lordy knows how they got hold of it but if you want a reward, turn 'em into Rolex 'cause they definiatly have it in their possesion. If it's Rolex certified, Rolex own it. Col.
