Tribal
Hello, after some discussion about the quality of an CN 1680 and a MBW 1680 i decided to write a comnparsion tutorial... Here we go... Somebody told me the case is all the same on both watches... I said never.. When you compare it you can see total differences.. First MBW 1680 CN 1680 You can see that the bezel on the CN is a little bit higher and not polished with sharp edges.. The lugholes on the CN are offcenter,CG`are too fat.. Next the caseback.. The caseback from the CN Sub is flimsy not thick like the MBW one totally wrong shape.. Glass installing The MBW has a nice retaningring to hold the glass in position, sometimes a seal is under the ring... it is pressed on the case hardly.. On the CN there is a "retainingring" but this one you can get off with your fingers, bad constructed no Sealing under the ring... The Bezel On the Mbw you have a nice polished Bezel that fits gen Inserts... Also a bezelwasher that allow the bezel to rotate free On the CN Sub there is no bezelwasher,i don't know if a gen Insert will fit The bezel is holded by a metallspring Sharp edges not polished and wrong shape The Glass MBW CN Sub You see the MBW is the better Glass, great quality.... The Dial MBW Great finish over all, hourmarkers are creamy and nice printed CN Sub Bad printed hourmarkers, too yellow in my opinion, but this is my taste..some like it Datewheel is silver, thats nice i think... When you compare the Bracelets of each one the CN has the better bracelet, with hollow midlinks, correct clasp.. On the MBW it's a massiv bracelet... After all the CN Sub is half the price of a MBW... The quality is much better on the MBW,thats the reason why it is expensive... So is there anybody out there who want to tell me,the watches are the same? Jetsons
Excellent comparison & photos, Tribal! Saabin performed a similar comparison between the MBW and Paul's CN 1665 (double red) at RWG1 a long time ago. He dissected both watches and posted a direct photo comparison which clearly illusttrared the differences of the individual components. The differences between the two were night and day as it is with yours. An eye opener for sure. Upon studying Saabin's comparison, I began the hunt for my first MBW. They are amazing watches and very well constructed (exactly as the gen). Their downside is that one cannot help making a great clone into a fantastic one which unfortunately, can substantially add to their cost specially if sourcing OEM parts. IMO, well worth it! I'm a huge fan those white letter dials. Cheers, Jet
HighDef
The bezel of a gen of this model should not be dull if it is in prestine condition, and that yellow is also correct but should be matte finish. Jump in anytime guys if you think I'm wrong
