  1. Repurposing a piece of history is fine in my mind. If you can make it into something that you will use vs keeping it stored away in the closet then why is that a bad thing? It's exactly what I did to my grandfathers old watch. I hate yellow gold and after my grandfather passed my grandmother gave me his watch. It sat in the watch box for 12 years until one day I realized if I just replated the case in rhodium, and changed the strap, I would probably wear it more often. This is what it looked like before: And this is what it looks like now: Which would you prefer?

  3. I may have exaggerated .. I saw this one today while trolling and thought I'd post a pick of it for public edification. It hits me on all the right levels. Sophisticated. Understated. Rugged. Elegant.. This is a Gen 1971 Vintage Air King Date. Wish it was mine. 1971 Air King Date:

  6. Pfffffffft!! What you need is magnesium-aluminum alloy ... then when it's 49 years old it will look as good as this. Just kidding, of course.

  8. I supposedly have one of the "newer" ones coming also.....It was ordered from Trusty time the same day they posted the updated pics. It will be here today according to the tracking. I'll update the thread with new pictures of it if it's different.

  9. much more important would be a better bezel pearl with correct dimensions and sapphire lens instead of the epoxy / lacquer type [censored]... Before we do not get a visually acceptable Deep Sea rep we shouldn't think about movement issues...

  14. As i said from day one with this guy and will say it again...... This guy is bad news. This will be another K2222. He will leave the forums with outstanding parts, money and projects. Mark my word. I'm sure he will insult me for saying this but why are people waiting 6-8 months with no communication? How is that even defendable? Anyone else would be banned for just one instance of that.

  16. Ok, so I give my cousin a Pam gmt like back in 06. He is in the music buis. I'm not bullshitting, he is chilling with Alice Cooper and a few people backstage. Alice is a Pam Collector. So someone else asked my cous If it is real. He took it off, handed it to Alice - he looked it -qup and down and said, oh yeah, it's real . Keeping in mind my cous is not a roady, he has a production company. And this was with the old school rep strap. But heavily worn in. Alice had no reason to kiss his ass. Another story. I met a dude at Disney while we were waiting for our kids to take pics. I said nice watch and I showed him mine. We were both wearing AP i had the new rubber clad in a black dial. He had the same watch without the rubberized bezel. He said he really wanted the black one. But there was a three month waiting list - in whatever country he was going back to. Now, I know exactly what was available because they were super new and only a handfull of models had the subdial look. He says - you wanna trade? I had to maintain complete control not laughing. I mean we were hold the watches right next to each other and we took the others to look it over. Of course I didn't trade. But i also didn't have the heart to send him to a rep site either. Quick 15-20k in my pocket. Which by now I could use i would have wasted it away before then anyway? Def my best rep story to date

  17. I always play dumb when someone asks me a watch question. I was at a restaurant recently and a diner noticed my 5127G Calatrava. First word out of his mouth was that's a wonderful replica. I said yes I paid quite a bit for it, I wanted the best replica in the world. I smirked and he walked away. I noticed on his wrist was a Submariner 16610 which looked to be authentic. I am pretty sure he was trying to show it off, but I wouldn't give him the chance.
