  1. Hi Guys, I attempted my first watch mod yesterday and let's just say I lost. Working on my new UPO to change from Orange to Black on the Bezel Insert I ended up pulling off the Pearl attached to the Bezel itself. I tried to pull the pearl+metal piece off the old bezel insert but this didn't work. Adding insult to injury, while I was working on the watch, I ended up having the post on the band (which allows it to click/lock when securing the bracelet) come off. I'm therefore looking for two parts. First is a new bezel complete with a good looking pearl and black insert. And second is a recommendation and hopefully a pointer on where to get the post fixed. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks, Ed.
  2. Can someone point me in a direction for Precious Time's website? Best, Ed.
  3. As you're sold out for the first order, hopefully I can get on the 2nd list. I'll want one for a PAM 127 Fiddy from TT. Best, Ed.
  4. Just picked up my first last weekend, 111J I'll have pictures for you guys soon, my crappy camera doesn't do Macro that'll be fixed soon!
  5. The dial is a PAM 111, I'm not sure if there are variances between the letter codes (H, J, etc...), but this is definitely appears to be a sandwich dial for the PAM 111. Best, Eddie
  6. Hey All, So I'm sure some of you may recall from an earlier post, there are literally no 'ultimate' grade fiddy's to be had from either Angus or DSN. Not sure why from DSN but Angus says there are no PAM E movements coming from the factory. Out of curiosity, what if I were to buy the fiddy from Angus without the movement... Would getting a 6497-1 be very difficult? How much work (for the untrained) is it to plug in a movement? Anyone here up for a paying job? Please let me know what you think. Best, Eddie
  7. Hey All, I've been working with Angus in an attempt to finally get a 127, however the problem is that 'the factory' says the PAM E movements (god only knows what this means) are out of stock. Does anyone else know of where I might be able to get a Fiddy which is of similar quality to that of Angus or DSN (He's out of stock as well!)? I've been to TrustyWatch88 and have seen them there but am unsure of the quality. Help my wrist find the 127 comfort it needs!! Best, Eddie
  8. Well I think this is different for everyone. I personally had the rationale that my REP was close enough to the original that the only thing which stood out was the band itself. So I went ahead and bought two GEN straps from an official Panerai dealer. The cost was pretty high, the average is about 180USD before taxes, but I would say it was a worthwhile investment for me as they really added the perception of a genuine watch. Now since this time, I have ordered a new set of straps from a strap dealer named Greg Stevens Designs (GSD), a few pictures of the new strap I've order are below. The cost on these are around 165 with shipping and include the buckle. I've not received these yet but I am looking forward to putting them on. If you're interested in GSD you can visit photobucket.com and enter gregstraps/gregstraps for UID and PWD and see the entire collection. HTH, Eddie
  9. Great looking watch Fijikid! I just became a fan of the PVD... Tell me, is the watch a 47mm? The case looks huge on your wrist . This is the exact look I'm going for but the 44mm on my wrist don't have the same effect. Best, Eddie
  10. Good Information! Thanks for that Peepshow!! So far the watch is running nearly dead on with probably only a second too fast at times. Two questions for you, do you know the proportion of speed to which this increases or decreases the watch time? For example, does one notch represent an increase of n seconds? Last question, do you know where a new student such as myself can read about these different features for this and other movements? Thanks Again! Best, Eddie
  11. Hey Guys, Have a look at the circled area on this picture of a 6497 movement. Now being completely unfamiliar with watches, I assumed the plus/minus (+/-) indicator was to show how much reserve power was left in the watch. However in looking at my new 113H DSN, the arrow doesn't move either before, during or after a wind. Is this instead some sort of tension measurement? Any help is appreciated! Best, Eddie
  12. Thank you all for the very informative feedback! I'll be steering clear of the SwissExpert.net folks from now on, although I must agree that the site is well put together . I think I'll go back to Angus and see about that 127 he's offering fully modded. If that works out, I might check out upgrading it with an authentic 6497-2 movement, unless there is a better movement to use? Best, Eddie
  13. I was cruising around looking for more information on the 6497-1/2 movements and stumbled across this page. If you've not seen it, enjoy! http://www.paneristi.com/archives/uglyduckling/
  14. As long as we're on the subject of 6497's, here is a shot of a PAM for which I just popped the back cover on. While this is not a 6497 or anything else swiss, can someone identify it?
  15. Well that was the problem, I didn't get a response from DSN as to whether or not he was using Swiss or Asian, just a simple statement on his end that it was 6497H. However since you're feeling is Swiss, I'll run with that. Considering now that it is a 6497-1 Swiss movement, should I expect years of trouble free operation? Best, Eddie
