  1. Rarely go to an actual theater anymore. My last journey was for Star Trek Into Darkness. Must say I have enjoyed both of the 'reboots' and the way they have slightly morphed the timelines of the original series. I'm sure purists will hate them, but I thought both were well done. Both have a spot in the top 5 of all Star Trek films, with Into Darkness being the better of the two. As far a rating versus everything else that's been produced in the history of film, I'd give Into Darkness an 7/10. Probably skewed slightly higher than it should be because of my loving the franchise.
  2. Well, since you are already going to be mixing rep parts with a gen Rolex by using a non-stock bezel for your 16030, going with an oyster bracelet will just put you a little further away from period correctness (the gen would have an engine turned bezel and jubilee bracelet). Don't get me wrong, even with gen DateJusts people are always mixing in pieces and parts, so it's not out of the question to do. I'm not immune either, my franken 16014 has a 16234 dial in it. You can certainly go with a rep bracelet if you want. Gen would be better obviously, but the cost benefit is up to you (and the difference would be substantial).
  3. They are steel. Aftermarket bezels are readily available on the bay, or you can check with JMB who custom makes them. Assuming you aren't doing anything else but swapping the bezel, you can do it yourself if you are careful
  4. Who has the best Sub .... entire Rolex edition ... Seriously, if you want something so good only a jeweler would know, go buy a gen. Or build a franken using all gen parts except the movement. Easiest is the DateJust.
  5. Several members have posted that TC no longer has any YM's. You may have to wait for one to come up in the sales section.
  6. At this point you'll have to take what you can get on the sales boards. Neither is available 'new' anymore. People have varying opinions, but I think the general consensus is that overall the Sean YM had the slight edge in most areas. Do some reading of the various posts on each and make your own determination. Then wait for one to show up for sale and don't hesitate when one does.
  7. Depending on what movement is in your 1016's, why not just send one for a service? Or if it's one of the Asian 21j movements it's easy enough to just buy a new movement if you think you are up to the challenge of swapping it.
  8. I thought Russia looked terrible in all of their games after the USA loss (even the games they won). Very sloppy play, passing wasn't sharp. Looked like they were just going through the motions.
  9. Yes, it's completely wrong. Unless you're a woman, that thing is fugly. Having said that, I have been told repeatedly that I have no sense of style, so perhaps you really should go buy one ...
  10. If you must do diamonds, do either the bezel or the dial only. Do not do both and stay away from the bracelet. I personally think they should be reserved for the ladies (unless you are the aforementioned rap mogul) but I'd almost wear one of these if given to me. http://watchesdb.com/inf/42075-rolex_116300_ss_mens_datejust_ii_41mm_3ct___diamond_bezel_watch_box__cardpapers.html
  11. The DG2813 is the most common of the Asian 21.6k (beat) movements used in reps. The 28.8k movement is the DG4813. For clarification, this assumes you are talking about the standard 3 hand (hour, minute, second) movement, and not the chronograph movement.
  12. Assuming you went with mymanmatt for the build, if she doesn't wear it, you would have no trouble selling it here for close to what you have into it. Buying her the Guess watch would be a throw away.
  13. The only way to update the datewheel would be to manufacture one yourself or find a gen datewheel and try to turn it into an overlay. I think the A2892 version has a black DW with white text. Closer, but still not exact. As for the DG2813, I'm not sure if grabbing a 2892 and swapping the movement will fit easily, but to be quite honest, you'd probably find it cheaper to just buy the A2892 version and sell what you have. Buying the new movement and paying someone to install it would probably cost the same as buying the A2892 and selling what you have.
  14. Depends on what you want him to build (DD or DJ) and which genuine parts you want to use. Can be anywhere from slightly more than buying from a TD to really expensive if you are looking for mostly gen parts.
  15. HH (member highhoeyazmuhudee as mentioned above) was able to complete a small run of the 5514 cases. He was working on the other case versions, but due to some bad QC practices in China and getting screwed by a manufacturer, he wasn't able to get them done. I believe I got one of the last 5514's he still had available, and that was some time ago (September). The only way you would be able to get one now is through the sales section. Was really too bad the other case projects couldn't be completed... HH put a lot of work into them and the 5514 case came out beautifully.
  16. If your wife is pickier than most of us, have mymanmatt build you one. Don't buy one 'off the shelf' from a dealer.
  17. Rex450 on RG has done two of mine. He does good work.
  18. Both cases are designed to be used with the 2824 (assuming you are talking about WM9's v3), so a dial spacer isn't necessary.
  19. Yuki's 7836 isn't worth the money. You're better off buying Mary's at 1/4 the price. Regardless, if you've taken out all the links on your rep 93150 and micro adjusted the clasp and it's still too big, then buying a new rep 93150 bracelet isn't likely to help. I'm not even sure a gen will.
  20. Rex has his own section section on RG. Haven't used him for AR, but he has done good work for me on two A7750 services.
  21. Well, at least he waited 8 posts before spamming the board ...
  22. If you have taken out all the removeable links, odds are that a new bracelet isn't going to help you. You can also use the micro-adjustments on the clasp to help shorten things up. The link above is for probably the best of the aftermarket 93150's that is still available, but it's far from perfect. There just aren't any great 93150's on the market anymore unfortunately. Many people grab one of those and swap the clasp with a gen clasp if they don't want to pony up the $700+ that an gen bracelet will cost. The old MBWs are a bit better, but you'll have to find one on the sales boards. I got lucky and picked one up a couple of months ago, but it took me ages to find it.
