  1. Who makes the best sub ... version 3,201.
  2. I considered myself lucky to have done business with him during the early days. Fast shipment of my Ebel 1911, and Chris even sourced a replacement crown for me many months later when mine went bad. Shame that he ended up blowing up.
  3. Need to hit the 2004-06 models of the XK8's. Better engines and transmissions in those years. I call the coupe version the poor man's Aston Martin. Very sexy. I am also a big fan of the older VW GTIs. I had an '85 that was an absolute blast to drive.
  4. I would look at Hamilton and Accutron. Great value for the $$$. Also love the Seiko Monsters if you are looking for a dive watch.
  5. No ... there isn't a movement available from China to do this ATM. The Pontos Chronograph has been rep'd though as it's based on the 7750.
  6. As alligoat says it's do-able. Spin makes his this way as well, so if you are looking for someone to do the work for you, that's where I'd start.
  7. Although Peart's solo clearly dominates this performance, Rush is one of the few bands that can craft what is essentially a combination of solos from each of the players into something that sounds like a cohesive song as opposed to individual performances strung together. Given the quality of their work, it's a travesty they are not in the R&R HOF.
  8. AR for the crystal and luming the dial and hands are a big improvement on the 3717. Here's mine with before and after pics. Taka crystal, and Vac did the lume.
  9. Well, it looks like they listed nearly every watch in existence ... couldn't they have narrowed it down a bit ... I do want the Glashutte Senator Chrono XL though. Have been looking for a two register chrono for a long time. The reps of the Patek and Vacheron look beautiful (if not all that accurate) but the price of the gens has always kept me from owning one.
  10. redmill ... IMO you will not find a 'good' Daytona for that price. If you like the Newman version then Spinmaster's is the way to go, but you are looking at double the high end of your range.
  11. On the road this week with my 3717 ...
  12. Wheeler Dealers did an episode on the 928. Made me seriously consider one ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPQ2_CHNvgo
  13. My 3717's rep crown appears to be 6mm. Might want to check with concepta as he sells gen parts for IWC.
  14. That's a good enough price that several (including myself) would be falling all over themselves to take it if you don't want it ... You can find them cheaper w/o the correct 45' counter and unserviced, but that's a great deal IMO.
  15. Online and land-based casino consulting. No one really knows what I actually do, which is why I get to charge so much. Also allows me to write off trips to Vegas ...
  16. If I get a comment on my watch from a woman, it is nearly always when wearing my BK/WM9 LV Sub. I also get the 'I've never seen a green one before' so obviously they know what a Sub looks like. The only other watch any woman has ever mentioned was my BCE. Can't say that I keep track of what watch I was wearing each time I've caught one to see if there is a pattern, but it sounds like a good experiment for someone to try ... As for the FM's ... aren't gen dials fairly easy to find? I seem to see them on the Bay frequently and have seen a few frankens in the forums.
  17. Ubi and Avitt's Daytonas ... OK, well anything from either of those two pretty much has to make the list ... Chief's 3717 gave me the incentive to do up mine, which is my personal favorite piece (although not as nice as his, yet). Any of Concepta's franken Portuguese chronos. Most recently being Deltatahoe's panda.
  18. Shot professionally for years when I was a younger man. Also ran a camera store. Could shoot whatever I wanted to for free. For slr's I still shoot nothing but Nikon. Superior optics. If you can afford the D90, go for it, I promise you won't be disappointed. Also, do not get drawn in to the megapixel wars. It's common to find higher quality images in cameras with lower megapixels. In addition to lens quality, the sensor makes a huge difference.
  19. "No" - Marcel Marceau, Silent Movie
  20. Although his initial stock is sold out, you should contact Vac if you just want one built. He had a thread going on selling modded UPO's over on RG: http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=98875
  21. One of these days it might be as nice as yours ...
  22. Still sporting the 3717 that just came back from Vac ...
  23. As nice as that would be, seeing as the 3717 has a closed caseback, I can't justify the added cost over the regular ETA 7750. I actually bought my Accutron for the purpose of using it as a donor watch ($286), but couldn't bring myself to do it since I liked it so much. I'm sure I'll do a movement swap at some point ... it's about the only thing I have left to do unless I try to chase down a gen dial and hands like Ubi did ...
