  1. That thing really is a beaut! I know I might draw some flak for this, but the MM looks more substantial than the SD or Sub, IMHO. I love the dial too, especially with taht power meter.

Doh!!! Now you guys are making me want this one NOW!

  2. I'll try to get a shot (on my wrist of course :) ) of my buddy's MM600. I don't know when I'll meet up with him again, but I'll try.

Yeah, it's always preplexed me too about Seiko reps, but like someone just said... if there's a market for it then you can sell reps of it.

  3. Im seriously thinking about getting a MM600 Spring Drive. The only trouble being they are not the sort of watch you can go into an AD and take a look at. Not sure about the bezel either.

    Has anyone got one?

I've handled the MM600 SD. They are simply awsome! My buddy was a diehard Rolex guy. I emphisize "was" as he has sold both his gen Sub and SD (both Rolex) now that he's got a MM600. IMHO, the MM600 has better, more rugged, look/feel to it and it's craftmanship/quality is equal to Rolex, if not better. I was very very surprised by the MM600. I shouldn't have been since I've got an Orient Star 300M that I'd put against any Swiss brand any time of day in terms of quality and craftmanship. When you throw in the innovative movement in the MM I think it's a must have. It's certainly on my list.

I'd love to see it rep'd.

  4. I think it's evident that other than the love of watches, preferably as many as we can get our little fingers on, we all have our own personal reasons for being on this forum. Presonally, I think I'm addicted to the chase. Yes, I love the research and the search for that "almost" perfect rep. Like Hike said he and I might not have the same reason for liking watches and reps, but that doesn't really matter as we all share the same love/interest/obsession/etc. for watches. That's what I think makes this place great.

  5. After my initial flurry of rep buying I've learned my lesson. That about 90% of the time I have a difficult time being satisfied with a rep's quality and craftmanship. Yeah I'm anal like that I guess. I sometimes have a difficult time being satisfied by some gens. So... I've learned to curtail my purchases to only those "super" (I know I know) reps out there. I now carefully hold off on the trigger till the true experts do a review. I've been satisfied enough with my Graham CF to keep her. Other than the Graham I've pretty much flipped every rep I've purchased. Till those "super" reps come out I just rely on my gens to keep me occupied.

If you're into this hobby to a point where you're having financial problems I might suggest getting into gun collecting and turning one on yourself ;). Sure I have impluse buys, but they're usually gens that I have more confindence that I'll like, but... those 1:1 reps now turning out in the market has peeked my curiosity enough that I'm spending more and more time purusing the vendor sites. :p

Hey everybody needs a vice or two right???

  6. Ok, I've said this before but here is what I know...

I went to China on business and went to a trade association event. There I guess I must have left my contact info, or at least my e-mail, because I got all sorts of e-mails from manufacturers and some independent salesmen for all sorts of things. Weirdly, I got a lot regarding rep watches. I still get them today. I've even been sent price lists and such in excell, but for some reason, and now I think I know why, no catalogues. I've been able to put together over the years that the manufacturers have their own salesmen who market their goods and then there are indenpendent salesmen, some are bigger than others, that don't directly work for the manufacturers.

How do I know this you say??? Well, I've been able to figure it out due to a few reasons...

    1. One person offers the watch at significantly lower prices, but usually they require a minimum number of pieces. These are mostly likely people working for the manufacturers.

    2. I've seen price lists sent to me by people that look like it's just been edited with higher prices. Yes, they look exactly the same but with different, and higher, prices.

I've even had some offer to send me samples. One thing though, is that I'd still have to purchase, at discount, a certain number of samples. I figure these guys are the one's working for the large manufacturers, but can't be sure of anything.

I've even toying with the idea of ordering a sample to crack this mystery once and for all, but unfortunately, my busy schedule and the fact that I have no wish to start a dangerous business at press time prevents me. :)

  7. Didnt you hear??? They are all the same person!

I mean really, buy the dealer not the watch! Maybe they should get together and have a last man standing cage match! The winner gets all the watches!

Are you taking bets? I might be game, but I'd like to see the fighters before the match. ;)
