  1. Given the impossibility of finding a Fiddy these days, let alone one with such mod jobs, I think you done great. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Thanks Victoria! I have to thank all of you guys for the help. I certainly wouldn't have been able to figure my way through it all without your help.

  2. The E movement also known as the "panerai panerai" engraved movement was discontinued around the g series. It was replaced with simpler cotes de geneve finish. The 127 is an E series and it so it had the earlier movement. So the 127 with H movement is a fantasy watch. The 217 which is the left handed version of the Fiddy is an H series and comes with the later movement. So the H movement certainly exists and is what you see on clear back hand winds today.

Thanks for the clarification. I feel like I'm in intro to Greek.

  3. Guys what do you think about this deal??? Good? Bad? Indifferent? Thanks in advance.

    - 0117 case

    - The Zigmeister fitted Davidsen AR coated sapphire

    - Swan neck Swiss Unitas movement with the proper dagger shaped needle.

    - Refitted and moded crown guard so the lever closes tight.

    - Relume job.

    - Strapculture strap.

    $450 USD.

  4. The Zigmeister, The Zigmeister, The Zigmeister. The best of the best. He will hook you up. Instead of the 111H, I would highly recommend the 111E from Puretime (Angus). All you have to do is the relume with The Zigmeister. Here are pics:

Is The Zigmeister on the dealer's section? Also, from what I understand he just does re-lumes only? No upgrades other than that? Thanks again.

  5. Like you I'm finding it difficult to get straight answers from the dealers. I don't know if it's because they're overloaded or due to the language barrier, but I get more confused each day. I guess the rep world is more complicated than I had imagined.

  6. Regarding Ultimate Fiddy's...

    Davidson is out of them

TWR seems like he's out of them too

Anyone know who else might have the Ultimate "top notch" PAM 127 Fiddy's??? I'm really dying to get one of these, but with all the upgrades. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  7. That's often true, but all my watches are old enough the lume has quit working. I guess if it looks old and the lume is dead, then that may be appropriate for that watch.

    Just a thought......

Really? How old was the watch and was it maintained properly? I've had 30 + year old Omegas (well maintained by Omega in Swiss) that has lume work better than some new watches. If watches are well maintained, properly serviced and seals checked the lume will last decades. Also, some of the older watches have better lume than watches of today since they used the "good" stuff, i.e. radioactive material in their lume.

  8. Thanks for the input everyone. Much appreciated.

Yes, noob to the rep scene. Been around in the gen world for years. I'll post pics of my collection when I get around to it. I'm looking into getting into the rep scene as I'm sick of paying $$$$ for the gen and getting them bang'd up everywhere.

I guess my question got answered. I want something that will be as close to a gen as possible. I've owned gen PAM 220 & 005 in the past, so I think I'll look into the 111.

I've also seen mention of series. Is there a series of rep's that I should be looking into? I've seen something about an "E" series?

  9. ^^^ LOL @ vet comment and will add... you sneak up me and you'll get the Ranger chock hold!

I've had some experiences like that but a bit different. I've never owned a rep before (will soon though!), but I've owned two gen PAM's, a 005 and a 220, and once I was a Hollywood club/bar and I was at the bar with a couple of buds. This guy comes over and starts to chat me up. I noticed he also had a PAM on, a common thing in LA, and he starts to talk about my PAM and he asks me about my watch. He then asks me if he can see it and try it on. Don't get me wrong, I'm a friendly guy and all, but I usually don't like to hand over a $5k watch to someone I don't know. I was sort of stuck between a wall and a hard place. Of course, I wanted to prove to him that mine was genuine yet was nervous of a stranger touching it. I was sort of contemplating letting him try it on when the lights dimmed at the bar and the black lights went on. That's when I noticed that his watch had NO LUME! lol. I brought my watch up to his face and said that mine's real because, unlike his, the lume worked.

Now please, don't get me wrong here. I'm no an a**hole by any means. It's just that this guy was all pushy, in my face and sort of accusing me of wearing a fake when it was really him that was. It was funny because the guy turned red and ran off into the crowd.

  10. Ztech, First I am very new here and have been reading this forum like a mad man for the past few days. I mean 6-8 hours a day on and off to all hours of the night: D and I love it. There is a heck of a lot to learn and I have only been reading about Panerai.

I am not sure where Andrew is located but I am sure that the watch will be coming to me from over seas. Pretty sure the watch will be dropped shipped could be wrong.

The main reason that I chose Andrew is because of the positive feedback that I have read about him and his customer service is top notch. I wanted to make my first purchase as easy as possible and he accepts credit cards. Plus as Victoria puts it peice of mind, If I get a bad watch or something goes wrong knowing that Andrew will fix it ranks high in my book. I don't want to have to hassle and beg to get something fixed.

Before you pull the trigger on a fiddy or 47mm search "exploding fiddy" the glass tends to break, I

  11. Hey Lifter,

Did you find a good dealer here in CONUS? If you don't mind, could you let me know who you decided to purchase from and why? Also, what types of upgrades did you end up getting? Thanks.

    I found this...

    http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main...roducts_id=1841

It does describe it as being an "ultimate", but I'm not sure if it is. Also, it states that it has a Swiss movement, but how can you be sure? It doesn't state if it has re-lumed dial and hands either, which is very important for what I'm looking for.

What do you guys think? Is this a good dealer? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
