The SMP chrono reps have significantly better pearls. You can also get the bezel with the better font and make your own pearl. http://www.replicacollector.com/members/in...&hl=pearls#
It would be tough to pair with a lot of stuff but I like the fact that it's different. There aren't many red/white watches out there that I like. I'd buy the rep...in a 21J at a sub-$100 price point.
The seller is apparently somewhat trustworthy and goes by Tonyxf on Cqout. I emailed him about the watch and he wouldn't budge on the price. For me the price is too high for a non-geek/rwg seller 21J watch. I passed on getting it. However if someone were to get it, from what I've heard people have good experiences with this guy.
That one is not too bad. The price is not too bad for a 21J but I have no idea who that seller is so I wouldn't take the chance. As always the pearl is terrible and the bracelet looks pretty bad too. Overall though I like it a lot better than the Silix one.
I bought this one back in February right before one of the price increases. Part of me flinches at the thought of the amount paid but I got a good deal (over 30% off) and with the recent increases it's looking a little better each day. Just have to wait another 3 weeks to wear it. It's my watch for the wedding and I don't want to have anything happen to it before then.
Yuck! That one has an awful pearl and puke green lume. I was expecting that would be in the Silixwatch range not prime. I certainly wouldn't pay $200 for that one.
I was really excited about this watch when I first heard about it and saw pictures. This is not what I was expecting. For some reason it just looked so much better to me in the press release pictures.
I don't think you can get a correct HE valve position case anymore. Those were from an old, closed factory and that supply apparently dried up some time ago.
Forgive me for a stupid question but where does this leave us as far as Black SMPs? I understand that the old factory has come and gone and the new watches have the wrong HE valve position but are there any with the correct length hands?
Geyper:
Thanks for the help. The ebay search is indeed the exact same movement for what seems to be a fairly hefty sum. The Miyota from cousinsuk is fairly close in price and so if it is more reliable I might want to go that route. Do you know what kind of custom work would be needed and whether it's something that can easily be done?
EDIT:
Is this the same movement or one that would work?
Is is available at Ofrei: http://www.ofrei.com/page1119.html#18808
In true idiot noob fashion my hand slipped when adjusting the regulator on my Rolex GMT Master II Asian 21J. I mangled the hairspring and sent the movement to rep hell. The first thing I need is some help identifying the movement: pictures are below. Does anyone know where these can be purchased? Ofrei? Also are there any secrets I should know about replacing the movement? I know this probably isn't a great idea for someone so green in the rep world but the watch was fairly cheap and to send it out would cost more than the replacement. I'd also like to learn a little along the way. Thanks for any help!
