  1. Thanks, but does Precious time do a good 111 replica ?

I guess my original questions should have been who does the best 111 rep in the UK.

I have found this one, what do people think ?

Link to pics (due to size):

    Front -1

    Front -2

    Back-Swiss 6497-2 (or so I am told)

    Thanks.

There are much better copies than that around think thats an "E" series swiss/Asian movement (base swiss with asian parts) it's most certainly the older 6497-1 and in the wrong case I am almost sure that movement should be on a solid dial not a sandwich dial. I cant see from picture if cannon pinion is standard or been fixed. It's ok if its under $150 but I wouldn't pay any premium for the swiss part of it you would be better off with a 6497-2 Asian H series with swan neck they are around for less than $200 and far more accurate a copy than the one in the picture

  2. Yes pie in the sky I think look at the last offering from them with the Ebel BTR copied from a live sample and they couldn't get the rotor right, They would probably rep it perfectly and spell Rolex with an A or something. They seem incapable of repping anything perfectly so a complex movement seems highly unlikely.

  3. The bracelet does not look legit to me & I would want to see the model & serial number engravings between the lugs before trusting this 1.

can you elaborate? what do you see specifically wrong with the band? If the band is not original then this is too expensive

  4. Sounds like as has been said crown stem too short and movement may not be 100% solid on retainer if plastic this is normal. The only real cure is a new stem . you could of course try the method of taking the winder off and not putting it back so far although a new stem would be better. A good way to get crown from stem is with an Archimedes drill just put the stem in like you would a drill bit and hold the crown and slide the drill back this is a great way to remove and refit crowns as you can leave only the smallest amount of stem bar unsupported much better than a pliers that can snap the stem

  5. No problem, the pushers are unlocked. The good news is, I found them! They are tiny little metal pellets, like flint from a lighter!

So lucky to find them, they were in another room somehow!

I will put them back in place and all will be well! Lesson learned ^_^

    Cheers! B)

There are 2 little shims like pistons in the retaining ring itself it's very easy to miss them and if you tilt the ring they fall out for sure. They are just bits of metal though if you had a peice of bar simular size you could fix it. I have used a Panerai screw in lug cut to do it before now just get the length right as its not going anywhere after its in position. By the way only unwind the pushers are far as you need to to make them work winding them right out sometimes causes them to come undone from the screw inside

Sorry didn't read you had found them!

  7. The first series, that's the G series, were all L SWISS L and I think that some of the H series were the same but since then they've been L SWISS MADE L.

I think sandwich dials should have L swiss made L and sausage dials L swiss L on the 111 etc.

  8. That plate on the back is wild. I guess you would need it to set the movement in the right position. It is pretty amazing that they have repped this movement functionally accurate. Out of curiousity, do all gen crazy hours have the same hour pattern around the dial?

These are the only configuration I can ever remember but it' not so common a watch so possibly there are others although with this 4 step system there are may combinations possible

  9. AP has second running at 12, not at 9, bad rep.........

Hello this is earth calling!!! There is no rep with running seconds at 12 half the forum is waiting for that watch. But us mere mortals put up with the seconds at 9 because the rest of the watch is so good

  10. wow not 1 respons.

That is strange! They seem to make a career out of spotting fakes on Ebay when their opinion is not called for or needed. When you ask for a good reason they don't have an opinion

  11. Simon needs to chime in on this because he researched this extensively, but from what I understand it is not a straightforward transplant of the 2892 Soprod movement into any other case. There is some milling of the case needed. I notice that the Power Reserve cases I have (027 & 028) are deeper or the caseback sits lower (which may mean just a deeper caseback) that a normal case.

I would love to know because I could just start with a fresh Polished case to make the PVD process less costly. As it stands now, since this latest batch of 028's are a PVD coating on a brushed case, there are multiple steps required to get a new PVD coating Right. The case needs to be blasted to remove the existing coating. Polished to accept the new bead blasting and then PVD coated.

You are completely correct the 2892 will not fit in just any case. The problem is with the winder stem, We must tried 50 different cases for Simon and none would sit correctly leaving the stem entering the case at an angle. Even cases from 4813 and ETA 2836 movements couldn't be used

  12. What do you think of this watch I posted from Angus?

I'm having trouble digging up info on his modding service with the search feature broken and all. His website is easily the best rep site I've seen, and if I'm not mistaked he modified the page today to include modding options.

What should I be looking for as far as the text goes?

It's the other way around for the official panerai. Very difficult to find I have just had mine done but all the movements with it this way up I could find swiss were without second drive so had to have that done I will have it back later today and take a picture of movement for you to see

  13. To put it bluntly, who has the best one? I know movements and modders are scarce right now, and I want the best possible watch without breaking the bank.

Saw one on ioffer a couple of weeks ago Swiss ETA flush CG Cannon fix it was around $400. I had email of the seller I will find it if I can

  14. And raiding Nah Piek would acheive what exactly?????

He carries f**k all in the way of stock on the premises, save for half a dozen cheap Silbersteins and a few no names in his display....(all throwaways).

    .

Thats the only way he could do it. But if you read Pugwash's reply anyone that didn't know would thing that you can just walk around and buy replicas with impunity and no one does anything about it. You know thats not correct and if you ask about in Pattaya loads of westerners have been nicked lately with the copy and the steroids etc. At the moment copy items seem to be the flavour of the month

  15. Why would they? This is Bangkok. ;)

There are a huge amount of stalls around the city selling contraband goods and they're all known to the authorities.

Because they are very active of late with raids almost daily in all the regular locations. So it's only a matter of time before the tame policeman gets moved to another office and they get busted. There is a new squad simular to the regional crime squad that are doing all the raids apparently they are on a bonus system for the amount of goods they uncover. Quite a few have been busted one girl I know lost 10 million Baht (about $300000) 2 months ago so it's not so safe, they are targeting the middle dealers as well as the bigger dealers now the only people getting away with it like the old days are the street vendors. Anything the slightest bit organized is being targeted

  16. Have a read :

    http://www.hublot.com/hublot_prod/site/hub...lot_replica.pdf

Apparently Hublot concedes that the high end fakes are not easily distinguishable from the gen apart from looking at the movement.

So unless you take off your high end rep most can't pick it's rep ?

This has been posted many times it has done wonders for the sale of rep Hublot and the newer models now address most of the problems. It's difficult for Hublot as the real item is not that much better than the rep and no more technically advanced. Makes you wonder who are cheats in this senario the rep makers or Hublot charging a fortune for a watch that is not really that spectacular

  17. If regulation and enforcement are lacking, if organized labor and watchdog groups are non existant, and if the media is state run where's the risk?

Thats exactly right the major importers of Asian consumer items are far more responsible for the situation than a few rep making factories. With the ever more competitive economic climate and with the now emerging Asian economies like India/Pakistan/Bangladesh etc the factories are forced to use cheap labour or fail no if's or but's about it.

The question is and it's a simple one would your average consumer be willing to pay maybe twice as much for the same item if it was guaranteed that no forced labour was used I personally don't think so not because they don't want to but because they can't afford to.

If you read the board you will read a large number of members complaining about making better copies when it is made the same voices are complaining it's too expensive. So how can anyone win? This same ideology is to be said of the slave labour issue yes they all want the working conditions to be perfect and no they don't want to pay any extra so there is no answer to it
