  1. The white pieces look like plumbing fixtures. I'd really like to know more about them, size, etc. I just paid a watchsmith good money to take the crystals out so that Chief could AR them. I'd rather do it myself and spend the money on other mods. As Borat would say " Very Nice".

  2. I had just gotten out of my car and was walking across the parking lot when my Planet Ocean on Nato Strap came off my wrist and hit the ground crystal first. Yeah, that's exactly the reaction that I had too. Frak me, for all you BSG fans. It was my fault because I had just adjusted the size and probably did put the pin through the strap hole completely. The sapphire crystal had black marks all over it. I was able to scrap off all the marks with my fingernail and the crystal came out unscathed. The only damage was that a couple of the hour hand markers fell off and the bezel has a couple of scratches.

But as I was thinking about my inital reaction, and after the fact, it I could have only imagined how I would have felt if the watch had been a gen. Upset would be a great understatment. Think about it. I know that these watches aren't cheap but think about how you would feel is something like this happened to your $3,000-$5,000 gen watch. The moral of the story: Be thankful that we have these watches and that they are as good a reproduction as they are.

Anyone one know how easy it is to glue on the hour markers to a watch? What type of glue should I use? Thanks.

  3. I agree both are reps. It's interesting that the serial numbers are different. And, they are different than my watch. I like that because it's a dead give away on most reps, especially PAMs. The other indicator that they are both reps is the blue protector film on both of the deployant clasps. I own one, the rep that is, and they all come with the blue plastic. I doubt the rep manufacturers went through the trouble of repping the film too.

  4. I just bought a flat 6. It's one of the most comfortable watches I wear. The strap is much better than ever would have thought. The only thing that I don't like is that the deployant clasp makes it virtually impossible to adjust the strap on the fly. For example it got hot the other day and when it did I wanted resized the strap to be a little bit larger size to give my wrist more room. Unfortunately on the Porsche strap that requires a screw driver to adjust.

You have to admire the simplicity of the SS Rolex band. All you need to adjust that is a paper clip or pointy object.

  5. ptolomeo,

I have a spare orange dial and hands. I notice that the numbers are not all orange. On some of the right edges there is some white. Kind of like a shadow affect. Does you dial have that look too? Anyone else want to comment?

  6. I have one of his watches and can tell you first hand how good they are. I lost two screws and the replacement screws are shiny and black like wet paint in comparison to his finish. It's one of my favorite watches.

  7. I understand your position. I am more than happy to remove the post if you wish. I joined the site two weeks later than you so I hope that credibility is not the issue. It was originally my intent to be a paying member but I'm not sure if I appreciate the "join and we'll share" sentiment. I don't feel that's in keeping with the spirit of the site. We're here to share our passion of watches and to share/discuss what we know.

  8. I have a TTK Noobmariner that has stopped working. I want to replace the movement but I don't know what I need. Can someone help source one for me? I also bought a VIPmariner from another board. I thought I would be smart and replace the VIP face and movement but unfortunately it doesn't seem to fit properly. Any help is greatly appreciated.
