  1. P, Thanks so much for that info.I will take some other shots later today.

This one is the same as yours, just with Doxa and Automatic, on the dial, and the condition looks about the same.

Have you any thoughts on a value for these?

The owner of this one wants to sell it, and is saying $700. I was a bit leary of it as it was a bit of an unknown.

But if it is a rare bird, it maybe is worth that money?

    Thanks again for the info.

and cannot find much info on this model.

Seller says its from the '60's, which I find difficult to accept, as it looks '80's or '90's to me.

Movement is marked Doxa, as is the caseback.

I know all the good info comes from this place, so what can the Doxa experts here tell me about this?

I have the watch in hand if we need to investigate it further.

    Thanks guys,

  3. Ya, I was all ready to buy that awesome kit of yours but $38.55 in shipping on a $99 product is too rich for my blood.

Funny thing though, I'd probably be okay if it was $10 shipping on a $128 product

Yes, indeed, we unfortunately are hearing that far to frequently of late.

In our defence, that tool kit would sell at around $150 -$160 if supplied by anyone else.

Also if you look at the cost of shipping 1.5kgs even internally within a country you see post cost of around 1/2 that amount, so its not all bad.

Wish we could find an alternate cheaper shipping option.

  4. Yes I know that supplier, and those tools are from Anchor in India.

We would sell that driver set around A$12.00, I have looked at it, and think I get better value from my other suppliers in screwdrivers.

Its all about consistency, and being able to trust continuity of quality.

I agree with you about a cheaper postal option, unfortunately we have a Labour Government in power, with a mad Welsh born woman prime Minister, who is spending billions more than she has, (typical woman) so the under ministers are jacking up prices everywhere to pay for her largesse. Our post charges are jacked up 10% every 3-6 months, which unfortunately only encourages her to spend more.:)

  5. Had a look around, but annoyingly the pound is so weak against foreign currency at the moment I can put together the same items at 2/3rds of the cost (or rather the postage takes the cost upto that point) so have ordered from a UK watch supplier.

Can I suggest that you have a very close look at the quality of tools you are being supplied?

The Chinese pack 6 or 7 different levels of quality in 1 standard pack.

For instance, the screwdrivers we sell as "budget" are in the same packing as our top quality set which goes with the tool kit, but I can assure you they are worlds apart in quality.

I spend a few weeks each year in China, sorting out these very factors, and I know we are buying quality for less than our competitors, and certainly not putting on the margin they do,.

The post cost can sometimes pull the price of our tools almost in to line with local suppliers, however we still believe the quality of tools supplied overcomes this.

I do understand that some tools look similar, however I can assure you they aren't....I fight many battles with suppliers over this quality issue.

  6. @fraggle42,

Don't forget to register at www.watchbitz.com as an RWG member, and then wait until you receive an "upgrade" email before ordering.

Our tool kit, which sells at $129.95 is sold to RWG members at under $100.00.

We have sold many hundreds of these to forum members with no issues.

Supplying quality items, and standing behind out products is the secret!

  7. 1 week from now we will all be sitting around pissed.

Looks like a big day with many members from all forums now booked to attend.

So come on all you Aussies, get along and enjoy a great day with your fellow watch lovers.

There may even be a Kiwi member joining us.

  8. Different tools are needed for different jobs, so no one tool will do everything well.

For this reason we have recently put out a bracelet sizing kit-

    http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/155206-a-new-bracelet-sizing-kit-straps-too/#entry1195058

Now not all the items in it are right for all jobs, but if you just want one tool, get a hammer, the bracelet block, and the set of punches.

These will do most bracelet jobs when required.

  9. yeah, the body is alloy with round holes. this is allowing the pins to angle out. incredible that a pos like this is sold from a reputable dealer!

Scott, I probably know the model, as we also received a box full of these with incorrectly drilled holes.

Does it look like this one?-http://watchbitz.com.au/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=44

I removed them from sale, until I could get replacements, and am still waiting for a refund for 50 case holders.

Just one of the joys of the tool biz!

However you soon sort out which suppliers to deal with in the future.

The problem was incorrectly drilled holes, some oversized, some on an angle.

The GuangZhou Watch Market is located on ZhanXi Road,Yue Xiu District in Guangzhou City (very close to the railway station).

The closest hotel is the Liuhua, about 5 minutes walk away.

If you are planning on buying watches you are best to have already made a contact to take you to the upstairs dealers, as the market stuff is basically rubbish.

It really is just as cheap to buy from the dealers here.

But it is a remarkable spectacle, to see 10,000 Chinese all trying to eke a living out of watch bits, none of whom earn a retainer!

  11. Ken

    I empathise with you.

We sold an item to a member and my wife was told at the Post Office that to send the item tracked was an unecerssary expense and that Registered was as good. Saving about £8 in cost she duly sent it registered on the 22nd Dec. This was an expensive item at £500. I was unhappy at her decision, however guess what, teh buyer says it never turned up, the Post Office say we cannot track an untrackable package (you should have sent it tracked) and the Paypay account ends up frozen due to the other member crying foul.

So not only do we loose the item, we are left with no option but to pay back the £500 to release the account. Who is to say he has not recieved it, who is to say a neighbour of his hasn't signed for it? My reputation is more important than one transaction as well as my listing as i always share who I am openly with any buyers.

Th elesson, in my case very expensive lesson, is a) always send tracked, B) do not let your wife make decisions on such matters!

    Regards

    Asronjenks

    @asronjenks,

Your registered item requires a signature on delivery.

If the PO do not have one, then you can make a claim through the PO.

Depends on which post authority you use as to what they may recompense you.

If they supply one you can prove to PP that the goods were delivered.

PS Sorry you have buyers who do not comprehend the rules Ken!.
