  1. Are you sure these are NOS? I was under the impression that squale still produced watches, at least it looks that way going by their site: http://www.squale.ch/

edit: never mind, I should have read the squale site a bit more carefully. They say "N.B.: this model is a 1970/80s (nos) original in all components except for the movement and strap."

However, the price quoted from squale.ch (for the 1515-005 at least) is cheaper than watchgecko. Even with postage which I believe is 20 euro. Maybe you could get a better deal for a group buy if you go straight to squale themselves?

    Already been done.

  2. I was doing a bit of price checking on new Squale watches, and found this UK dealer with some extremely well priced NOS, but 1970 vintage watches.

    http://www.watchgecko.com/catalog/index.php?manufacturers_id=35

It appears that when the Squale (Italian company) were taken over by the Swiss, there were a stack of cases and dials from 1970's production.

So they have been assembled with new ETA movements and straps/bracelets and offered with warranty in new boxes. Apparently the only issue is that the lume on some dials is a bit ordinary.

A bit of history and eye candy here-http://www.gnomonwatches.com/Product-view.asp?id=59

So being the ferret that I am, I did some more checking, and found I could access supply of these NOS pieces at VERY good prices indeed!

Unfortunately there is not a lot of stock left, and I am just now getting quantities and final pricing.

But stay tuned because we may have a chance to do a one off group buy (Once I seek approval from the admin here) and have some wonderful old watches in NOS condition FS at prices we pay for much lesser products.

I do wish to keep this pretty low key, so anyone with any questions please PM or email me.

  3. Oh do you mean THIS bracelet? New, unused, never mounted. How's that for rare?

:tu: HOPEFULLY I can get this in the mail today. You know that movie about the unfortunate series of events? HOLY SMOKES has it been weird here in Alaska this week. Post office accepting cash only? Another one can't do customs forms? Dogsled down?

  4. Pleased to announce the arrival of Doxa Sharkhunter. All the way from Switzerland.

Will go through the Offshore spa tomorrow with before and after shots to come.

Purchased bezel paint today, and plan a mild polish, but not to remove all the battle scars, just make it a bit shinier.

On the wrist atm.looking good, the only issue thus far is a bezel which needs to be freed up.

  5. Special thanks to Nanuq, who has been advisor and cheerleader, all rolled into one, as I have been searching...especially these last few weeks.

FWIW Nanuq, I was underbidder on the other one which went off just before this one, for near the same money. It had a bracelet, but was very shabby compared with this.

So an auction worth losing methinks.

Had a max bid just over $1k on this one, so I was happy when it stopped there.

That leaves something for a bracelet.

What about fitting a current model bracelet....I know its not the same, but they are pretty close I think?

  6. In doing my "homework" I stumbled across this rare bird.

    http://www.ebay.com....7#ht_803wt_1396

    It is claimed that -

Although the SUB 200 T.Graph was produced in Professional, Sharkhunter and Searambler versions, it is not known exactly how many were made. However, the number is believed to be in hundreds rather than thousands. Either there were less Sharkhunters produced than the other models or those that were made were unfortunately worn to destruction, because I have yet to see a SUB 200 T.Graph Sharkhunter other than in a catalogue shot. They have to be the rarest of an already rare breed.

So!- rare indeed- however one would think the chances of resurrecting it to be somewhere between zero and nil.

The movement is an Eberhard 310-82 meaning parts there would be possible, but a case back, dial, and bezel, may prove to be a journey too far.

I'll bet the Nanuq juices are running however.

  7. I may just give in this time. I even like the band. :)

Wow, That was a new bidder who "stole" that!

Not another one heading to the RWG Doxa collectors club???

Timing wasn't right for me...but gee, that was an excellent price!

    Hope you got it.

  8. Similar to what joey B is playing with, I am talking to a guy in India atm, who has a "different" dial refinish process.

He takes a dial, and photographs it, then removes the indices, and badges, anything which will come off.

His photo is taken in a jig of some type to retain dimensions.

He then photoshops the dial picture, to repair and generally clean up the dial and then prints that photoshopped image on to an adhesive film.

This is attached to the original dial plate, holes are made for the items to be re attatched, and the indices/badges etc are replaced.

Quick, simple and almost faultless as I see it...I'm sure its not that easy however...getting a jig for the camera to ensure 1:1, the actual photoshopping process, and what type of adhesive film and printing is being used, are all unanswered questions at this time.

However I am continuing my discussions with him, attempting to glean more info.

He has done a number of dials for me...most reasonable prices (From $35- $50) and the finished product is excellent, in fact its not like most refinished dials which look like they ARE refinished...his work just looks like a new dial.
