  4. Hi all, I am thinking of buying a watch with a white face to complement my cllection of darker faced watches. I want one that is as close to gen as possible and think it could be a fight between the Rolex Yachtmaster or the Breitling SuperOcean SteelFish. I would be interested to hear people's thoughts on: 1) Which white-faced watch is best to go with ? 2) Who supplies the "closest to gen" version ? I have also added a poll for a quick measurement but please post your thoughts in the thread. Thanks
  5. Thanks guys. I think I might drop this idea and get a cheapo waterproof gen watch !

  8. Thanks Toad. In the jewellers, they had some kind of block on which they placed the metal bracelet and then used a thin tool with a hammer to bang the pin out of the bracelet. I think because it was really stiff. Given that, is the Bergeon style the right type of tool, particularly if the pin needs force ?

    Swiss or not ?

Thanks everyone. I assume the swiss 6497-1 is a better quality movement than the asian clones, in terms of reliability rather than rep accuracy ?

    Swiss or not ?

Thanks Tech. Is there any issue with the movement not matching the model i.e. H ? Apart from it not being an accurate replica ?
  12. Hi The Zigmeister, I would be grateful for your help in this thread: Swiss or not ? There seems to be some confusion as to whether the movement I have linked to is swiss or not. It is meant to be a 6497-2. Cats suggested you would be the expert in this to cast a deciding opinion. Thanks in advance for your help. Regards, Spy
  13. Hi everyone, please help. I am on the verge of buying this PAM111 based on the fact it is supposed to be a SWISS Unitas 6497-2 movement. I have searched the forums, looked at lots of pics but still none the wiser. Can some of you more experienced people help me please ? The pic is linked here: Pic of the movement Thanks.
  14. Thanks, but does Precious time do a good 111 replica ? I guess my original questions should have been who does the best 111 rep in the UK. I have found this one, what do people think ? Link to pics (due to size): Front -1 Front -2 Back-Swiss 6497-2 (or so I am told) Thanks.
  15. Thanks Elisir, and everyone for your great advice. I am a little worried about buying my first rep from the Far East and would prefer to buy in the UK in order to avoid customs complications. Does anyone know of a great PAM 111 rep that is supplied by a UK seller ?
  16. Thanks guys. Turbo, is Angus based in the UK hence your recommendation ? Jawo, what is the difference between the 111E and 111H ? Thanks.
  17. Hi everyone I only just found the site and am mightily impressed by the following rep watches seem to have. I am totally new to this and would be grateful for some advice. I would really like either a PAM 111 or 212 (1950 Flyback) but cannot afford the cost of a genuine model. Who supplies the best value (balance of price, quality and accuracy) PAM 111 and PAM 212 ? I am assuming it may not be the same supplier. So far I have come across a site called homagewatch.com who says they supply PAM111.com watches in the UK Has anyone heard of these and how do they compare to any recommended suppliers ? Once again, thanks for your help and I am very excited about finding this site. I can see this becoming an addictve hobby
