  1. thanks for the warm welcome guys, my wife joined in 2008 simply because she bought me a rep from an on line auction **out.com and hadn't hear anything from the seller for a while so got a bit nervous, as it turns out the seller was in china [surprise surprise]and the post was just a bit slow, anyway she had bought me an omega smp 007....which is now in bits bought a new movement from cousins....broke it took a movement out another rep i had....broke it bought another from cousins....broke it so now i dont take the back off watches and my hair has stopped falling out
  2. hmmm the more i look at it the nicer it looks
  3. has anyone any idea how old this watch is? just curious
  4. thanks for the tips guys...alas..i`ve tried all the tricks with no joy. teejay....i never thought of a stainless dj case!!! thats got me going ..good thinking !
  5. thanks again teejay, the teeth on the case back dont sit proud so there is no way in for alan keys, i know what you are saying about putting on a strap and just wearing it, but its not really my thing, i`m a stainless steel kind of guy, i just thought if it had no real value it may be usefull for a franken...or would this be sacrilege ?
  6. i guess i just want to know: is it worth repairing or is it not economical ?
  7. thanks teejay, tried that......thats why i`m typing with my nose lol seriously though i took it to a local jeweler and he says its a special size tool ??
  8. hi guys, i guess i`m just looking for a bit of info, i was given a gold plated tudor oysterdate approx 34mm wide not including the crown [vintage] it is self wind has drilled lugs and has a rolex crown although the tube needs replaced due to poor threads, the watch keeps great time and only looses seconds over a 48 hour period so cant be too bad, hopefully the pics will load and you will see what i`m on about...really i want to know how old it is, would it be suitable for a franken project, i have no way of removing the case back unfortunatly, thanks in advance.......b
  9. hi guys, i thought it was about time i introduced myself, i have been lurking in the background for a long time now ever since my wife joined to get some advice about watches, i have been watching a reading in awe ever since ! i dont know a great deal about watches, however i am nuts about them and have done the pocket watch thing etc all the way to replicas of which i have had loads, but have only 2 now a Narika tiffany rolex and an omega gmt which i love, its one of the finest watches i have worn....it just looks right some how. at the moment i have a new seiko "atlas" glued to my wrist and cant stop looking at it...stunning build quality. i have been through the taking apart nonsense and after a few wrecked watches have given up with that lark......i`ll leave it to the experts ! i`d like to ask a bit later, if its ok, the rolex experts some questions about a tudor/rolex i have just been given. anyway thats all for now except to say what a great place this is......regards to all.........bruce.
  10. i`ll do that george and post what happens
  11. no george, i have not reported this yet as i stupidly didnt use their escrow service which basicly means i`m on my own, what i dont understand though is how do people in china register in the UK?? they have to provide a real address, name, phone number, credit/debit card details etc etc, seems to me that they may have help over here in uk, its dodgy at best anyway, but its been a steep learning curve though and a good way to learn !! i certainly wont go there again. this is a great site though guys and thanks again for the help. best regards karen.
  12. thanks guys for making the time to advise a "mug" like me, now i just need to work up the courage to tell hubby i`ve lost some money ........gulp, it was only
  13. hi guys, i recently bought an omega seamaster gmt for my husband off a dealer on cqout, the dealer seems to be full of bull**** and keeps stalling on sending, faulty watch cant find a replacement etc etc even though his auction page lists 8 available !! yesterday i was offered a different one which i accepted for simplicity, thats the last i have heard no "promised" tracking number etc, the dealer is lvmonia who i thought {DUHH !!} was in the uk as he is registered here, turns out to be asia somewhere, can i assume that my money is gone? has anyone heard of this dealer? any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance..............................karen.
  14. hi guys, sorry if i`m in the wrong bit, but new here ! 2 days ago i purchased an omega 007 4oth anniversary watch on CQOUT from the dealer lvmonia, i have seen his name mentioned on here since....should i be worried ? i paid instantly as he appears to have good feedback, but have heard nothing at all from the dealer, really all i want to know is: is my money gone, will i get the watch and will it be the one in the picture. i only got into this trying to get my husband a birthday present....begining to wish i hadnt bothered ! any help would be great guys..........best regards karen.
