  1. Thank you to everyone. Your thoughts and prayers mean everything to me. If you haven't already done so, please give you parents a call to say hello. Go see them if you can and cherish the time you have with them.

    +1 Marty

    Absolutey true!

I wish i could do that... only my mother is still around.

All Grandparents passed and father died in 2008.

There are too many things left unsaid between me and my father.

Somehow we buried the hatchet during time of his illness

but as said too many things left unspoken and then its too late.

I can only second the comment of Marty...

so get your things straight while your parents are still

around. Life leaves no second chance.

  2. Fine!

    So it was sent...

Just saw someone saying that good average for US/EU delivery time

with USPS (not overseas shipment) is about 2 weeks but

can also take up to 4 weeks sometimes.

    Hmm :g:

If it takes more than 6 weeks for your package to show

up ill send you a bag of original turkish/greek coffee for FREE

to make your wait more comfortable

  3. Just a brief update concerning the "screw-down-crown":

One thing they didnt rep better on this one seems

to be the "screw down crown".

Am not 100% sure but from the pictures on kings site

showing the same rep as Josh (www.kingshowbox.com)

you can see a small gap/hole above the crown that

indicates that there is no screw down crown construction as

on GEN 15300ST. On the gen 15300ST a metal tube comes out

of the case right inside the crown where its attached.

    5932_P_1287221691278.jpg

The construction with the "hole" in the case where the crown is

screwed "inside" the case rather than onto a tube (as for ex. on rlx)

would be correct for the model 15202, 15002 14802 and other ref#

2 hands Jumbos but NOT for the 15300ST!

Cant figure out why they did this but it seems from the pictures

that they reped a different crown construction.

Curious to see first reviews on this one.

  4. Sorry @EXPERTS

but you are wrong concerning case construction

of the modern AP 15300ST jumbo!!

(AP 15300ST = "jumbo" with second hand)

I couldnt find an old post of mine where i described

the case-construction of the 15300ST as 3 part

    - Bezel

    - Case

    - Caseback

I couldnt find any official source on the net, but i once

got a special reprint edition of a german watch-mag

for Audemars Piguet where they describe the "sandwich" case

    construction in detail...

nobody believed me, i have this booklet somewhere in a box

in my cellar since i moved. Now you guys made me ring up german headquarters

of AP in Wiesbaden right now:

---> 3 part case construction confirmed

They will try and send me one of those special edition (not for sale)

reprints of "Chronos Uhrenmagazin" Germany - a review of the 15300ST

if they still have some. As far as i remember the article was with

pictures of the watch, dont know if 1 picture clearly shows the

screwed off caseback but in the text(german) the 3 parts "sandwich"

case construction is explained in detail!

If i got the reply from AP ill try to scan and post here

    you "doubting Thomas" ;)

A hint for those who look/search on the net for pics:

Look at a small dark shadow right underneath the casebacks

of the gen 15300ST! Now you dont need to ask yourself

any longer "where" this shadowy gap comes from because

you now know that the shadow comes from the attached

caseback on the watch-case on the genuine AP which means

this is NOT a "1 part" construction embedding the caseback

    into the case.

On the other (steel model only!) "true" jumbos with

only 2 hands the case construction is indeed 1 part

embedding the caseback into the case. Some of the smaller

(36mm) ROs like 14790ST do have similar case construction too

but i noticed that especially on solid gold models you can

also find the construction with detachable caseback.

Other thing that is GOOD on this rep is:

Gen has something like a "plastic gasket" that holds the movement

inside the watch. This gasket causes a small dark or black ring

to appear right under the steel bezel from above.

On the new Jumbo 15300ST from Joshs site you can also see

a small dark ring under the bezel which appears to be the

upper side of the plastic gasket holding the movement

    inside the case.

Btw i wasnt able to find some pic of a gen 15300ST

with caseback detached but here are some makros of the gen:

(If you look careful enough you might also see a small

silver line - case viewed from the side - just

at the point where the caseback "hits" the case -

this fine line is the reflection from the edge of the

caseback! If it would be truly a 1 piece construction

there shouldnt be any reflection or edge...)

Will post asap more infos - am curious how fast they will

send me some infos via regular mail.

It took the sales person of AP Wiesbaden 2 seconds

to reply to my question on the phone and to tell me that

assumption is indeed correct of 3 part construction of 15300ST

no matter what you think - sorry ;)

    Cheers

  6. :bicycle:

I have that whole book of postcards, they are hysterical. This one is on my fridge, I was going to send it to a friend and haven't got around to it.

    matter-inside-anus-friendship-ecard-someecards.jpg

    Hmmm... i guess i got it :D

i also care a lot for historical postcards,

but wasnt that a quote from Alexander The Great "I will be your

friend, no matter what you put inside your a_nus"??

D, i really have to say your hidden historical knowledge brings

a whole different light on your sig:

--->How To: Lube and fix bracelet rattle

Btw i like you anyway :p

    George

  7. and an other fine example : vrf :black_eye:

    WOW!!

Now this is what i call "vintage"...

the first Rlx id gladly wear without any mods if

    the movement runs fine!!

Ok you might not get a genuine Omega "Moon-watch" here

but at least a watch that looks as been on the Challenger Space Shuttle

back in 1986 - a watch for "tough guys" like me 8)

    :victory:
