  1. Folk here aren't trying to be unfriendly to new members - it's a very friendly and helpful forum. It takes a bit of patience. Introduce yourselves, get to know people. Appreciate that people are being guarded for a reason. Everyone here was new once.
  2. I think this thread will cheer you up: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=429 By-tor's review of the watch - and lots of comments saying what a nice watch it is!
  3. Sorry to hear that your first rep wasn't up to expectations - but everyone here has a first rep, and believe me - as first purchases go, yours is way up the chart. It works - that's probably a start! And I bet it's still a decent watch that doesn't look a million miles from the gen - none of these reps are perfect, you get a great watch at a fraction of the price. Did this come from PureTime? I notice he has two watches very similar. I'm no expert on this model but I think what you wanted was a Broad Arrow rather than a 'Moon Watch', they tend to be built on the A7750 (Automatics rather than Manuals). Yours looks like the Broad Arrow, but is a Moon Watch fantasy, I think. You may be able to send the watch back if it has a dent in it - depending on how bad it is. Or there may be trade options for you. Best of luck!
  4. One of the keys is to get the proposal straight to the PR people - they will put two and two together, it makes life easy for them to have a story like this land in their lap, and as you say, when it's tax deductible too that's a bonus. Success with public relations means putting ready-to-run news stories in the hands of editors and journalists - and so success with securing funding from PR and corporate sponsorship is to think one step ahead and show them how easy it could be to promote themselves with it. Also it would be great to get a local business on-board in some of the future towns you are passing through - you're speaking to the media in many of the towns anyway, they'll happily take the exposure. Just my two cents.
  5. Yes it should be a bit easier. There are plenty of threads on resizing it, but the best advice I found was to use the tool to push the pin part of the way out, put another pin in (if you have one) to push it out just a bit further, then carefully with pliers (being careful not to bend the pins) it's possible to get both pins out and remove the link. That worked for me.
  6. Interesting watch! Paying a wee bit over the odds is all part of the learning curve (some of the other watches on that site are way, way over the odds). The main thing is you're here now You might like to check out some of the Silberstein offerings from some of the collectors here. Meanwhile, on the subject of the hotreplica's site, which eagle-eyed watch expert can spot the slight flaw in their Planet Ocean?
  7. What an adventure! Keep it up!
  8. Yeah, it doesn't have a reputation for being a relaxing pastime, especially when the meter is running on the overall bill. But it's looking fantastic!
  9. Fair play. The Asian version from Trusty has a black date wheel, it might be worth a quick look before pulling the trigger. Either way - you're getting a great watch
  10. I think Silix may be doing a better deal on this model - $150 + shipping. Personally I'd be happy with a less expensive Asian 21J version of the same watch too - not sure who might be selling these. Cheers!
  11. Mr Clean's Dirty Little Secret?! Like the optical illusion!
  12. I think the little green men are just screwing with us!
  13. (A wee cross post from TRC....) Fantastic review and brilliant pictures!! It was this review that pushed me over the edge - I had to have a Cousteau........ Fast forward to a little package arriving: Let's open her up and have a look inside..... And FINALLY - here he is at last!!!!!!! And a macro shot: I'm so happy with my new Cousteau - thank you!!!!
  14. Why not narrow it down to a particular watch? They're all different.
  15. One of the advantages of the Steelfish is that it's not a chrono - you get the ETA movement rather than the A7750. There are also some good deals on the gen rubber strap out there too. That said, neither of these two have pushed me over the edge yet.
  16. Interesting find - cheers!
  17. Nice! Good to see a Lange in there....that's the watch that got me hooked
  18. Congratulations!! This must be some sort of record you're heading for!
  19. Well now you qualify for one!!
  20. T-shirts now available. $9.95 + S & H
  21. Zoom it out even further, the moustaches and studded black leather caps might give us a hint.....
  22. "How many times do I have to tell you?! You have to go in the kitty litter from now on!" I tried the advice....didn't seem to work.... (Dutchy, when will you listen?!! PS. You look like a chick)
