  1. A sharper candidate you could not find P.S. IWC is quaking in terror @Chronus - you got your eyes sorted yet? Y'know, buying a Railmaster XXL might be cheaper....
  2. I think from memory the rubber straps and / or the watch require modding if you had one that came with a SS band. It also depends on the generation of the 42mm PO. The 42mm PO that came with rubber straps were pre-modded 3rd generation PO's, so not as good as the later versions. The best solution for rubber at present is still the pre-modded 45mm PO - there has been much wailing and gnashing of teeth at the lack of a 22mm rep strap for the 'Ultimate' though.
  3. It doesn't matter what the photo is - what matters is what arrives, if anything. Stick to the dealers here who are all trusted - you will actually get a watch for your money. I think that guy is selling the ETA version for $337 - you can get it for about $160 - $225 from the dealers here.
  4. ....and other amphetamines! 6 ft too.
  5. Ach, they're not going to smash it up - but it is going to be very embarrassing. Folk get conned on reps every day outside the forum - people often pay full price for a rep, we see folk flogging them on ebay all the time. So it's not surprising that they might take them to an AD. Frankly, offering to pay $400 to service it suggests quite strongly that you think it's real. $400 is a big mark-up on a service - my guess is they will do a half-assed service, call it out, and keep the cash. Maybe he should tell them that they tried to scam him by swapping the movement (joke!) Now that sounds like a case for Judge Judy....
  6. It's a really great series of watches - what I love about it is that the brand is imbued in the design. UN have got this sorted. There aren't many watches out there that can sell you on the strap alone. It's just amazing. Maybe UN experts will be able to explain, but the one with the plain dial seems to be 15k - I don't really understand why. And as an example of why I like the folk on this forum - compare the response here to the response on Timezone. Over there a guy laid down the same money for the same beautiful watch and showed it to everyone on the forum - and got one solitary response that it made them "feel seasick". Get over yourselves!! You don't have the sea legs for a UN!! This one is a beaut!!
  7. Thanks for showing us! Look like this particular collection is about to get a lot bigger before it gets smaller!
  8. But where on earth can we get the best deals on replica handbags now.......?
  9. That had all the hallmarks of a thrilling classic....except that the Colts won it. It was looking good for the Bears for a bit there! I wasn't sure if I wanted the Bears to win more than I wanted to Colts to lose - either way it was the wrong result!
  10. Aye, not bad work if you can get it! I don't know if this was mentioned in the other thread, but I came across an article he wrote for the Sunday Times on buying a new watch - mentions IWC's and the Bell & Ross: Jeremy Clarkson article on buying a new watch Maybe James May could do with being introduced to some of our IWC reps.... (or maybe he already has! )
  11. That is amazing.
  12. Exactly! And that's why there's nothing to fear by being straight-up with the specs from here on going forward. On the issues that really matter, this is a good result.
  13. I think you might be right - it's hard to be completely sure. I downloaded this episode last week, it's definitely a black rubber strap and what looks like an Omega buckle. You get quite a good look when he's doing the roadworks, about 14 minutes into it. Of course, I'm not sure if this is a good or a bad thing, but I guess it's always good to see someone in his income bracket finally able to afford a watch like mine
  14. I've never got around to this repair yet - no free time. Poor thing is still sitting in a box. Thank goodness for the 'back-up' PO And if that conks out, there's the back-up to the back-up PO
  15. That is absolutely fantastic!! Now, where to pick up a pink bezel insert for a PO for my wee lass....?
  16. About an arm's length
  17. No it didn't - I had to move the camera back. I've seen the instructions for that camera too, I didn't find them very easy to follow. One of the reasons I was trying to set the white balance was that all in the indoor flash shots with 'auto' settings came out very grey, for want of a better description. Outdoors it's a dream though (for an amateur like me).
  18. Ah, fair enough. To fix it I said "fuck it" and zoomed out!
  19. I've come across this too when playing around with someone else's D-80 - it refuses to 'focus' and go from red to green. I was trying to set the white balance with a piece of paper, but I couldn't work out how to take a close-up.
  20. I've got to say - I'm feeling my arm being twisted on some of these cameras..... Could be an expensive thread for me On current projections, it is actually going to take longer to organise the photos of my daughter than it will to raise her
  21. And, of course, only in Australia, only in NZ, only in England, only in Canada, only in ______[insert country here]____
  22. That's not a collection........it's a shop!
  23. Aye, coffee all round! Congrats!!
  24. It's true. There could have been an eight dwarf hidden under her skirt now I come to think it....
