  1. It is definitely not easy moving country - and it's not the differences, it's once it dawns that everything is the same, but now that little bit harder. The first year after moving was definitely a rough year - mainly because you're moving country, finding a new house, shopping at Ikea, and both looking for new jobs all at the same time - all stressful stuff. Ikea....shudder. That said though - when you're in a relationship with someone from another country, one of you is always going to be away from home. So one or other has to suck it up, or it all goes wrong. Personally, I can see the benefit of sucking it up in the sunshine next to a swimming pool. And maybe this is just me - but it's not a 'marriage' until you've been hit over the head with a frying pan and still get along. And every relationship gets tested by pressure at some point regardless - that's what makes or breaks it. Whether it's in the UK or the US, its still going to be advisable to wear a crash helmet around the house.
  2. Been there, done it! I'd better get back to work. I have pony riding lessons to pay for....
  3. The advice from doctors is, remove the IUD in early pregnancy. If 100 million people use something that is only 99% effective, that is a surprisingly large number of nappies to change. You'll be working to pay off the pony riding lessons before you know it.... On the visa front there are some excellent forums out there dedicated to just these kinds of questions. I don't think the 2 minute old corporation with a related owner would pass muster - you'll have to establish a track record in some kind of industry, and flash your qualifications. When it's all said and done, it would probably be easier and cheaper to get a real company to try to sponsor your employment. If you're not planning to work, do you really need a work visa? Or alternatively, if she doesn't like the UK, could you not both get working visas to a 3rd country for a bit?
  4. We have electronic tolls here. The car just goes 'beep' as you speed through. Actually, the beep is a bit of a strange thrill. Beep, my bank account just got hit up. Beep, there is goes again. Last week Top Gear did a thing where they put a Prius up against a BMW M3 for fuel efficiency to prove the point that it's how you drive, not what you drive that can make the biggest difference.
  5. Pho - you need to raise your rates I have two words for you Jaymoi: inner tube. As Pugwash mentioned, do factor in that it will be harder to start a career overseas, not easier. Your wife may desire to be supported financially at some point. And babies do appear out of fucking nowhere. Or in bed, all sorts of places really...
  6. Dammit TT - answer me this. Do you think people are now more hungry or less hungry for reading about your delicious meal Glad to hear you had such a great time!
  7. I think that's a likely scenario. And best wishes to her. Now the rest of us hardcore addicts can get to planning a real vacation....at our world GTG...
  8. Ah, so this was research for the vacation was it?
  9. And then locked in a cage. With a tiger. I'm very grateful to my neighbours and their unsecured networks. We had a power cut recently that put out one side of the street. Laptop battery, unsecured Wi-Fi down the street - aaaah, back on RWG within minutes
  10. Like your thinking - introduce a bit of supply and demand to keep prices competitive.
  11. Ach, who needs her for a whole hour? If she's any good, 5 minutes should be plenty
  12. Did more of you see this at $455 before it was pulled? Begs a few questions....
  13. Yeah, the deal tends to change....right around the time of the first pre-natal class. Suddenly bling seems to take on a whole new level of importance. [i told her she could have one if I liked the kid - seems crazy not to try before you buy.... ] It might be an idea to have some regional GTG's simultaneously as a 'world GTG'.
  14. Perhaps because you wanted.......to start a Shortest Thread Party!!! :band1: Congratulations!!
  15. Great pictures. Interesting subject with the "fake gen" pics, the folk they confuse are the real buyers down the track who think they then have a fake surely. Man, it's going to take some kind of special
  16. I'd definitely be interested. I just came across herringshoes.co.uk online, they seem to have some decent stuff too.
  17. The best shoes I ever owned were Churches - jeez and to think they seemed expensive then. Cows must have quadrupled in value, dammit - I should have invested in cows....
  18. (Always good to see you around too BTW )
  19. Welcome Ron! Hope you enjoy it here too - we're all friends between the forums
  20. Err - guys, the thread is actually open. Perhaps I should have been more clear in my post above from earlier, you're carrying on about not being able to reply but I re-opened it soon after TT posted his message. I initially closed the thread thinking that was the end of the discussion, clearly that was premature, so it's back open again. But I'd prefer to see an end to the squabbling, put it that way.
