I have the older out-of-production Ti Seawolf, and in fact it's going in for AR imminently. Mine has the He valve. Very odd that they omitted it from this new model.

i thought i could replace the ss seawolf i sold, but not with this one...

just heard from joshua and this is just a modified chrono avenger case with a seawolf dial.

no HE valve, bad '4' bad pearl.

that rep has been out of production for a long time, and the last version was an awesome rep.

i had the SS (fantasy) model and it did have the HE valve, and it worked. so did the older ti model i believe? it seems strange that they would remove the HE valve and leave the caseback engraving wrong at 300m, not 3000m

it would be odd for them to bring it back and change that?

but the last one i saw sell did go for almost $400 due to being out of production

personally i find the history and custom of menswear and formal wear interesting. i am extremely casual everyday at work, but i do own three (vintage) dinner jackets and formal trousers and the appropriate accessories; black patent leather pumps and a pair of black sharkskin seamless bal oxfords, wing and turned down collar shirts, bow ties (that tie, anything else is an abomination), suspenders, cummerbund and a terrific set of 19th century 18k rose gold and black onyx cuff links and studs.

prior to 1860 or so mens formal wear was black tie and tails or for more formal occasions white tie and tails. with boiled stiff fronted shirts and heavily constructed tight fitting tail coats. then henry poole of saville row made a short much less constructed and comfortable jacket (similar to a smoking jacket) for the prince of wales. who evidently could get away with it an american (mr james potter of new york) visited the prince in 1886 and was so impressed he had mr. poole run him up one and caused quite the scandal when he wore this 'casual' jacket to an event at the tuxedo club in new york. hence the name in the us.

until the last few decades when hollywood types corrupted it, the tuxedo was a very simple look. a single breasted jacket with a shawl or peak lapel (notched lapels are for suit coats) and NO vents. vents are appropriate for hacking or hunting jackets to be worn seated on a horse, not a dinner jacket. a white turned down collar shirt with a pleated placket, and french cuffs, worn with decorative studs. black cummerbund (pleats UP with a small pocket to hold your theater or opera tickets), black bow tie, suspenders (black, white or something like silver to be flashy). black pleated trousers with a satin stripe (a military touch), NEVER cuffed. country trousers are cuffed because of the mud. black silk stocking and black patent leather pumps/slippers (usually with a grosgrain bow) or black seamless oxfords. that was it. the only acceptable jewelry besides studs and cuff links was a wedding band and a school or military academy ring. no watch.

if you look films from the 20's, 30's and 40's and even into the 50's you see these rules followed. the secret to dressing well was all in the details. fred astaire being a perfect example. he knew the rules and followed them, but always bent them a tiny bit. he could and still look great because he knew them

the only people who call it a 'tux' are those who rent them, and they invariably look like it too

I love the +/- 15 seconds a MONTH in the description I think more than a few things are lost in translation. This watch is admired for its value on the Seiko/Citizen board. This watch LOOKS like it's a moded 007 in some ways. I would echo what longshot said, if the color combo does it for you, it would be hard to argue with a purchase...........pull the trigger

the 7S26 is actually about a 10/15 second a day movement. i've had a couple dozen 7S26 (and date only 7S36 movement) watches and about 10 seconds a day is what you can hope to get. they are a very simple and robust mass produced movement and eben when regulated to run better do not tend to hold that for very long. but they will also run a very very very long time without servicing, a very long time! this watch isn't a modded 007, it is an 007 with a different dial and chapter ring and bezel insert. parts bin marketing at it's best!

that's just the 'bullet' version of the SKX 007/009 style 200m divers. i have no idea where 'oxygen' came from in the listing unless it's a translation problem and refers to the divers countdown bezel? they were popular when they first came out and the uncommon color chapter rings make for some cool frankens. the lume is not as good as a monster (almost no other seiko is) and not quite as good as the plain 007/009 divers. mostly just because the bullet shaped markers are smaller. same case and crown and bezel and hands and bulletproof 7S26 movement as the classic 007/007 divers

if you like the orange/back/white combo best, go for it

those are all 6309's, except the 6306 and only a geek could tell the difference in a 6306. or would pay the extra two to three times the price for a 6306 when you already have 4 6309's

the day wheels on seiko's commonly come in french and spanish and english and roman numerals. i've also had arabic (i had an orange monster that was arabic). kanjii is pretty rare in divers but reasonably common in 6138 and 6139 chronos. the only diver you will find with kanjii is the japan market only 21 jewel version of the 17 jewel 6309 with a 6306 hacking movement. they were only sold in japan and for less than one year.

I too wanted a 'blue dial' watch and bought this exact one. It got no wrist time at all. Hefty watch but it didn't have alot of appeal to me after I got it. For another 200-300 bucks, I'd suggest an Oris TT1 Diver (blue faced) now that watch I loved. The blue was remarkable. It's a different look, but a far superior watch IMO

BTW-The Tissot is not uncomfortable to wear. It would compare to a Seiko Monster style watch-One that I would not be afraid to beat up-It did look very dark and almost black in certain light- The Oris is a no-doubter on color.

here's another vote for the oris blue faced diver. IMO a much better watch than the tissot for roughly the same money and a stunning blue dial

the rep boards are pretty much high end rep collectors. we buy davidsen pams and mbw's. lot's of members have bought BCE's and steelfish and ets ultimate p.o.'s etc. most of us ar also watch geeks who know what obscure brands and models are.

but the general consensus is that the HBB, and now the ceramic bezel version is just too damn expensive. i agree.

so who is buying them? i just can't see the typical tourist in a rep market looking at a $200 sub that will impress all his friends and deciding instead to pay $600 for a brand he (and his friends) have never heard of?

maybe the market is in china? but at these prices?

Im an avid cyclist as well, and I have never worn a rep while cycling for the same reasons you mentioned. Personally, I never wear watches while cycling. I have the time on my CAT EYE anyway. If you really want to wear a watch, Id stick to gens.

it's funny

my cyclo-computers have clocks and so does my heart rate monitor. but i never think to look at them? same with the clock on my pc. i just am so used to looking at my watch...

i only have half as many bikes as watches but never wear stainless watches while riding. i just find them too heavy and they flop around.

this is my hobby and these are luxury items, not necessities. if the oil companies, who generally pump oil out of public lands on leases they pay the govt pennies on the dollar for then get tax breaks because the oil will eventually run out make excessive profits, then that pisses me off.

but neil making a few bucks? doesn't bother me. the entertainment value of his posts and the quality of his pics alone are worth the money

i think the dirk pitt books are written to about a middle school level, and not well written at that. pretty much crap, suitable at best for a long plane flight when the alternative is sheer boredom

that said, i love doxa's!

they have a history and did invent the orange dial dive watch. when blancplain and rolex were the only companies making true dive watches, doxa was there shortly after. before omega and seiko and iwc and...

i don't like the grains of rice bracelets, but could certainly live with one on a nice 600t

i am always kind of surprised that tags and even fortis gets repped and doxa hasn't?

if you take it off at night there is a fairly common answer

mechanical watches are positionally sensitive. i have played around with this some time ago with my seikos and found that some gain time crown up at night, and lose crown down. some seem to be the other way. there are a couple scf forum guys who have set up spreadsheets and calculated gain and loss in the 6 positions and tracked the results over time. if your watch is gaining 5/6 seconds a day and you set it on the nightstand, say crown up, and it loses 5/6 seconds overnight it is possible for it to be dead on after a few weeks. or really close anyway!

that's why you see that engraving on really fine movements about "adjusted to X positions and temperature"

I think anyone is welcome to pay what they want for something for sell, and sell something they have for whatever someone is willing to pay. I would personally be happy to pay a premium for a watch with servicing, waterproofing and mods, simply because I am willing to pay for the convenience of buying the finished product and having it on my wrist and not having to ship it here and there and risk shipping or customs loss, and not having to wait to get my watch back. Think what you will, but if someone is willing to buy something at a price THEY deem fair, then it really doesn't matter what anyone outside that transaction thinks.

I have a couple of Invictas and Timex that I think are pretty safe. They're well within the <6k range.

The legendary Invicta 8926 with a Miyota movement has an outstanding reputation. The rep factories won't even go near it. They know that you just don't mess with a watch like that. With it's brilliant interpretation of the seamaster bezel and the sub dial and the Citizen guts....oh....I guess that it's already a rep. Never mind...

How about the Seiko Orange Monster. Not likely to be repped any time soon, unless they are able to come up with a believable copy for about 19.95usd.

Armitron, Casio, Wenger, Fossil, Guess, all very fine timepieces that will likely escape the forger's grasp.

actually there are reps of both the seiko monsters and the 007 divers. the pictures pop up on the seiko forum now and then. the 007's are not bad and use a chinese copy of the 7s26 but are pretty easy to spot for a seikoholic. the monsters pop up on ebay from unscrupulous asian ebay sellers...

i have actually made the pilgrimage there a couple times looking for vintage seiko parts...

they are as polite and helpful in person as they are on the phone and are just as likely to refuse to sell you something they have in stock as they are to sell it to you!
