The Lange 1 is one of my favorite all-time watches. But ringing in at over 20gs makes the real one a bit out of my league. Has anyone ever seen a quaility rep of it? Thanks!

If I am not mistaken the real one has black hands vs. silver hands on the rep.

Not a happy camper this morning. My UPO fell of a table and one of the numeral markers fell off. Does anyone know anyone in the NYC area that could put that back on for me? I would do it myself but being brand new at this I don't have any of the equipment needed. Please help, this is my first rep and I love it! I would also be willing to send it off to someone to fix if anyone would be willing to take on this small project. Thanks

Just wanted to give Andrew some positive feedback. I had ordered a UPO from him which stopped running after a couple of days. I emailed Andrew who immediately responded, gave me detailed instructions on where to send it, and how to send it. I followed his instructions and mailed the watch back to China. He then emailed me again when it was received and about two weeks later sent me another email saying that it had been fixed and shipped out. 4 days after that my watch was back at my place working perfectly. I must say I was very impressed with his customer service and attentiveness. I just wanted to make sure he got some positive feedback for it. It was seamless and extremely professional. I have sent gens away to get fixed and haven't gotten as quick a response. Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

no..I meant this one, it's got some details in RG and that makes it more elegant for me...not u punch in the eye with the whole case in RG...little bit of RG on the case, little bit on the dial...just enough!
I gotta say those Dewitts are nice, never really looked at them much. Thanks, any other suggestions?

Is this the one. A bit more than I was looking to spend. It is beautiful, is there one that is more reasonable or do you think this could be a typo.

Here is a cheaper version, looks as if its is the same as the one I posted above.

my favorite RG watch is defintely the DeWitt Academia Chrongraph Sequentiel - but this watch is a replica of a 24.000$ gen - dunno if you would consider it...the watch is amazing...it's indeed a super rep...take a look at dealer's websites...and belive me, if you get it you won't be disappointed...

Hi all, now that I have got the bug I am already looking to get another rep, despite that I just got my first (UPO) just a few weeks ago. Wanted to get something in RG but that was also casual enough to wear with jeans etc. Would love a gold PAM but am up for anything. Anyone have any suggestions on which RG rep is both good quality and closest to the gen. I have found two that kind of fit what I am looking for and I posted the links below. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

As a new guy I must say that was an incredible post. Thanks. Wish someone would do that for the UPO.

Wanted to get everyones thoughts on these two reps that I am thinking of getting for my father since there are no good Lange 1 reps (thnaks everyone for the info on that) $1600 to me seems pretty expensive for a rep. Being new to this I wanted some verterans insights. Do you think these are worth it? Are they really solid 18k? If so which of the two do you think is the better watch? I searched for info on them here before I made this post and couldn't find any. Thanks

Anyone from NYC make it to the Tourneau Sample Sale Today? If so, thoughts? Worth going?

The problem is that any ETA/ETA Rep out there is unable to simulate the movement of a Nummer 1. I think I recall reading about some rep that used two small movements to simulate it ... but the powerreserve was still not functional. Actually I have yet to see any Lange rep that is more than a fantasy replica.
Oliver
good point.

Are any of the sellers that are used by this group willing to negotiate on price or is the price on the website the price you have to pay?
Thanks

The problem with the Lange 1 and many other watches with in-house movements is that they're typically built for one model of watch. The beauty of so many of the super-reps we enjoy is that they use ETA (or variations) for their movements. How many different rep watches use a 7750 movement? 200+? that's a huge market compared to the few that would use a movement that would work in the Lange 1. The bottom line with reps is that what they're doing is for profit and there's just not enough profit in building a movement that can be used in only one type of watch.
However, from my perspective I would be happy if the dial, hands, etc. were great but inside was an ETA or the like. To me at least, as long as the caseback is solid I am more concerned with the visual look of the watch and as long as there is something decent on the inside I would be happy.

Ignore that question I found the answer on the web, display back. I guess thoughts on the one from Andrews site would still be apprciated. Thanks.

I know there are a million posts about the different versions of this watch so I won't ask the same questions again. Although as a rookie at this I still am not sure which to get. However, one question that i can't find an answer to is if the back on the gen is solid or display. The chopard website doesn't say. I am interested in this one from Andrews site.

Some of the issues like the backwards miglia on the crown seem to have been fixed. There are still some slight issues but it looks pretty good to me.
Any thoughts or direction would be of great help. I am still trying to learn so please bear with me.
Thanks

Yeah...no vendor covers the cost of you shipping it to them even for "warranty" repairs or returns. This fact often ticks a lot of buyers off...but it's one of the truths to be accepte in dealing with reps.
The cost is usually about $20 USD. A PROPER movement servicing (complete strip down, clean, lube and rebuild) costs around $200. You may find cheaper...some find it for $50...but, YMMV and quality will vary. Sometimes the rep movements have flaky parts or things that pop out...the beauty of lack of QA/QC.
I guess i am just going to send it back. Sucks but its not working so I don't have much of a choice. I don't even care about the shipping costs. Understand that when dealing with reps there is always a risk. Just [censored]. That was my first "high quality" rep. It looked amazing jsut stopped running after about 4 days. Back it goes. I guess I need to order another to wear in the meantime. Ha. Ive got the bug.

I guess another option would be for you to see if you have a local watch guy to look at it. It may save both of you $$ and time. You just need to work out how much the seller is willing to cover.
The seller was going to cover all costs except getting it back to him. Unfortunately I dont know much about these things on a technical level so I dont knwo why it is not working. I saw a post recently about a rep friendly watch guy in NYC but the responses were all PMed. Can someone please send me a name. Might be about the same price and save me the time if I did that.
Thanks

Unfortunatley my first rep (UPO) stopped running after only a few days. The seller, who I will not name (yet) because so far he has been very responsive, told me to send it back and gave me an address in China to send it to. I'm sure many have done this. Is this ok? He said not to use FedEx UPS or the like and said to just send it Registered Airmail. Is the USPS ok for this? Do I need to worry about customs etc.? Thanks for the help. I am a new guy from NYC. By the way this site is addicting! Thanks.

There just isn't a good rep available for the Lange 1. I've been looking myself for a long time.
If it's not the actual brand he wants as much as the style of the watch, you might want to consider the Glashutte Pano Reserve Date as an option. While it is possible if you are lucky to find a Lange 1 for $20,000 in gold, you can pick up the Glashutte for around $6,500 in stainless. Not sure if that's out of the budget or not, but you are looking at 1/3 the price for a similar looking and very high quality watch. There are several versions of the Glashutte besides this one, but it has the same features.

Not sure if everyone saw this but interesting. Looks as if The Swatch Group is going to stop supplying parts to other manufacturers. Could put some peeps out of business.
