  1. UPDATE: I contacted PT (dealer) and he almost immediately replied with "return it to me for replacement" So, off it went into the post and I checked with the mail today and it is confirmed as having reached its destination (PT!). So, I am now eargerly awaiting the replacement Steelfish PT has said he will send me. Referring to being damaged in transit, I can't see that as the cause of the problem as PT always packages his watches very, very well. He also does a qualiy check on all watches and this one passed the test - so I don't know. I must admit I was very disappointed to receive this beautiful watch not working. The reason I buy from PT is that he gives excellent service, and is one of the good guys. We need to keep buying from people like PT - look after the decent dealers so they stay here!
  2. Hi, Recieved my much awaited new Steelfish this morning and it is D.O.A. - not running at all despite winding, shaking etc.... Th esecond hand is between 4 and 5 and when wound it moves forward and backward between the 4 and 5 markers. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do with this, as it is a lot of money to waste if it cannot be resolved. Thanks Darren
  3. Why don't you buy a set of extension tubes to fit between the camera body and the existing lens. That would give you the magnification needed. The drawback is a reduced depth of field - which can be overcome with decent lighting. Just a thought...............
  4. I'm looking at choosing my next rep and have decided it has to be a Panerai. The trouble is - which one!! I don't want anything larger than 44m, I want a leather strap and display back. Initially, I had thought of the 111 - but would welcome any suggestions. Thanks!
  5. I have a beautiful Rolex Daytona - it has the new 28,800bph 7750 movement. The problem is that every so often the watch just stops (for no reason?!) - a slight tap or shake starts it again. I have found that if left (even overnight) face down the watch runs OK. Tapping it firmly but gently face down onto a pad of cloth seems to make it run without stopping for longer. I realise that there are loads of gears to make seconds run at 6 - any ideas how I can resolve this and get this watch running better?
  6. There have been a number of situations over the past few months where buyers, either through ignorance or malice have caused massive problems for some of the excellent dealers we have here. I want to continue being able to buy the reps I choose from dealers I choose, who's business practice and product quality is under constant scrutiny from the "Dealer Review" section. However it seems a little unfair that dealers who accept PayPal (for example) have no protection whatsoever. One complaint or chargeback can end trading for a dealer. I'm being selfish here! I want our dealers to stay. Does anyone have any ideas on how we can improve on an already excellent forum, so that we can all continue to enjoy our hobby? I had thought of something loosely based on eBay feedback where a dealer can add to the members score each time they complete a transaction. Maybe there are some better ideas out there - but I imagine that many people will feel that something like this is in ALL of our best interests. Comments please! ....................
  7. Now confirmed as my absolute fav! This watch looks and feels better than any other watch I have got. It is the most accurate and feels "quality"
  8. And the close up of the micro etching
  9. I now have a couple of nice reps - my favorite being Pt's Yachtmaster TT (14k) with ETA 2836 movement. I want to keep this as my 'special occasion' watch and get an everyday rep! I've been considering an Omega SMP (blue) with the ETA 2824 movement. Can anyone tell me the difference between the 2836 and the 2824?! So the main question is, I want to buy an everyday watch - will the Omega SMP fit the bill?
  10. Yes, regulating it sounds like the next move. Would you think it'd be sensible to have it serviced at the same time?
  11. I have a Breitling Chrono Avenger with asian 7750 movement. At first, running a little fast - so I thought it best to see what happened over a few weeks. Now, three weeks on it is losing a second per hour! Any ideas?
  12. You'll love the Ultimate Sub from PT! Excellent watches, excellent dealer.
  13. Just a quick asian 7750 movement question relating to the same watch...... it appears to be running fast, gaining about 2 minutes in 18 hours. Is this normal for a new watch and will it settle down? I've read somewhere on the forums that watches need to be run in (so to speak) and it may settle down a bit.
