  1. I hear you all. Here's the pic that got me totally excited about the Montoya. It was something about the primary colors on that stark white background. As Kruzer states, the bezel was the deal on this one. The caseback is something most people here can live with if done with some care, but the bezel, given all that we see on Hublot watches and other APs is really the dealbreaker. Sad, really, because this piece can rock out.

  2. Has anyone heard anything about a Montoya ROO getting put on the list of reps that will be improved? I wouldn't mind buying the one with secs @9 if it didn't have the following problems:

    1. The spacer between the bezel and the case should be carbon fiber

    2. the bezel needs a more robust carbon fiber

    3. engraving needs a bit of improvement on caseback

    4. double hour markers at 12 are missing

I don't mind the open caseback, but these issues seem like a relatively easy fix. Any thoughts on this or ways to suggest this to the rep makers would be appreciated.

  3. I'm not an expert on Zeniths, but it looks shifty to me. First, the box and papers call it an "Open Class" watch. But the watch doesn't have any exposed parts which would indicate it is an "open" watch. This may be a watch from the pre-Thierry Nataf era, but I don't know enough about those watches to make an informed analysis. any takers?

  4. @ TT, not trying to start anything mate. I'm just not the type that feels handcuffed by political correctness. I can say what I feel simply because I know there is no hatred or bias behind it. I didn't write the above, but I can't say that I disagree with much of it.

@b16a2, granted the "N" word has a lot of bad history behind it, but I'm sure that most racial names do as well. All groups have had their fair share of hardships. Just never understood why speaking about anything associated with blacks always results in gasps. When did we go from Archie Bunker being the number one show in America, to media personalities being fired for making racialy flavored jokes?

I'm not calling you a racist, but I do question the way you characterize racism. Racism doesn't depend on whether one doesn't feel hatred or biased. The most insidious kind of racism is the kind that people feel totally authorized to say because they honestly, truly believe there's nothing wrong with it. Archie Bunker was being ironic when he played the role of a bigot on television. He was making fun of it. What was ironic about that turn was that some people couldn't pull out that irony from his performance and as a result, they perceived his jokes as a heartfelt, honest performance.

This has nothing to do with political correctness, it's about how one perceives the space around them. If they feel they can do or say anything they please without considering how others would feel, more power to you. But don't forget that you had power to begin with, otherwise you wouldn't feel entitled to speak where others have to hesitate. Racism is all about power, and most often, the power that people assume is evenly distributed amongst all people, when in reality, it's not.

  5. Pho, I'm thinking strong thoughts for you, man. You have people here who respect and admire you and can appreciate what you're going through. Good luck. I echo Toad's comments. Good luck holding the watch thing in check. When I'm sad, watches are one of the few things that make me happy, so I hope it provides you solace but also lets you the freedom (financial and spiritual) to find peace with your situation.
