  1. It is generally easiest to buy a rep that contains the movement & date wheel you need & just transplant it into your case. However, if that is not an option, try here (they have 2 datewheels in the middle of the page) or search ebay or, if you feel lucky, try rolling the dice with Mr. Slimeball & see what you get.

    *LoL*

I cant help finding this way funny....

    "My name is Mr. Ball....

    Slime Ball..."

    Is the seller that bad?

  2. Does the orange one have carbon dial? Looking from the pictures on dealer's sites I don't see the carbon dial for the orange version. I like the yellow one better but want a carbon dial also so I'm still on the fence.

Can anyone confirm that the picture above is a U-boat "Flightdeck Cab O"?

I checked the Uboat official site http://www.uboatwatch.it/main.html and its impossible to link to pics there since they use some sort of Flash website.... but according to the pics here:

    http://www.mattbaily.ca/index.php/brands/u...k-50-cab-orange

the pic above is bound to be the "Flightdeck Can O".

Also, Stallone seems to favour this model too...

  3. LOL - I hear that, and it's one of the reasons why I wear reps too. I could afford a gen or two, but given that I've completely destroyed one rep and scratched the hell out of two others so far this year, I don't think my blood pressure could handle gen ownership ;)

I had a not-so-expensive Gen Citizen Eccodrive (approx 400 Euro) which I dropped on a stone-floor and totally destroyed...as greg_r states above, I would been really angry with myself if I had dropped a more expensive gen...I rather drop and destroy a rep than an gen...

  4. A strange thing happened tonite:

I was at a mall in northern Stockholm, Sweden and when I sat at a coffeshop drinking a double espresso with my wife and two of my kids I saw a well-known watch-dealer called "Ur och Penn" (Watch and Pen) which among other things are the disti of Citizen in Sweden.

I went into the store and asked whether they had watches in 43 or 50 mm since I wanted to see how a watch that large would fit my wrist.

And would you know...there in the store they have this brand (I asked who made the brand but the lady was new and didnt know) called "Jetset" and some of their watches was a mirror-image of the U-boat cases complete with the "crown-guard"

I actully asked to try one on and discovered why U-boat has the "crown-guard" to the left instead of the right, since I had trouble moving my wrist with this "mirror-copy", I tried it on my right wrist to "simulate" how it would feel to have the crownguard facing your arm (and not your hand) and it was way better.

I would think that anyone having their watch on their left arm, should probably go with the crown-guard on the left as U-boat has.

Oh, and here are some pics from "Ur och Penn" website showing the "Jetset" brand with the "San Remo" models.

In the store there were actually one that was even more U-boat

  5. That sure looks like a very thin plastic cover with "airbubbles" under it.

I had an mp3-player once that I cursed since the display was really bad, looking something like your rep....until I realised that there was a protective plastic cover on it and it was quite hard to remove too...

So check once more time please to see whether this is not a protective plastic coating and not a bad AR treatment...

  6. I actually got in touch with the manufacturer and asked for info about dealers in Scandinavia and a lady from Denmark (where they have their disti apparently) came back to me with the Excel-sheet I have attached.

True, the prices in it is Swedish Crowns (SEK), but to convert it to Euro just divide it by 10 and you get a very close equivalent to Euro.

The fun part is that the Excelsheet describes the type of movement for each model, type of case and type of dials and strap.

Oh, and I also got an Excel sheet of AD in Denmark if someone wants that, but this file I havent enclosed, but can upload on request.

  7. After lurking here for a while (and doing some sporadic posts) I have come to the conslusion that I wanted to know more about watches, movements etc.

I searched for courses in Sweden, but these seems to be far and few between, so I Googled for books instead.

It turns out that there is a Swedish guy (Im from Sweden too) selling a book called "Amateur Watchmaking" which looked interesting and wasnt very expensive so I ordered it yesterday and is waiting the delivery of it any day now.

I found it on this site: http://www.watchmaking.se/index.htm and I will update you all guys whether the book is worth buying and reading or not.

  8. I read the thread closely, impressed by the expertise and quality of the comments, it seems the source is now, not cheap but they appear to be of stellar quality, I'm confused though because I can't find the "Blue/Burnt /PP-NT-007 (PP0044D) and the Black/Dotted/PP-NT-010 (PP0044G) " references on the Eurotimez site, (ok they have separate listings for "standard" and "MBK" quality) I only see PP-001 to PP-005 and then PP-048. Can't say for sure if the gen above is the PP-001 or the PP-002 ?

Oh, I found the references at Eurotimez "old" site (since I understand that there will be a "new" one shortly) that has both a "Catalog" and a "Dictionary" ("..."for prices & reference pictures of other watches not listed in our catalog...").

The references above I found in the Dictionary part of the site. A little confusing for me anyway, since it is unclear whether you can get these watches from Eurotimez or not. (there *are* prices listed there)

  9. www.dnsstuff.com is your friend...sometimes you get more info, sometimes slightly less as in this case:

It is a newly registered domain...

  10. Then I know where my next bonus will go....

Btw, I didnt see the size mentioned of the watch...it looked quite large in the pics in the thread (and it is called Jumbo as well!)

    Is it 43 mm?

A good site to the different sizes is actually the official site of the U-boat brand http://www.uboatwatch.it where they show how a 55, 50 and 43 mm watch would look on the wrist. Unfortunately I cannot link to this pic, since this is in a flash-application.

Just look at one of their watches, preferably which comes in different sizes (you see this in the lower right corner) and click on the one of the sizes in the already mentioned lower right and you will see the illustration.

I took a screenshot of this and attached it to this post. I havent figured out how to show pics inline yet....

  11. I dont want to say too much on the progress since this is an ongoing case, but I eventually used some of my old law enforcement-contacts to see who could help me with this case, and in the end I mailed a lot of info about this to a contact within the London Police, IT-crime department as well as to 2 dutch investigators.

The London police advised me to take it further with the Edinburgh police as well as Royal Mail investigation deptartment, so I did that too.

We can only hope at this point that the bad guys were sloppy at some stage, since they do leave traces, both IPs (which of course can be a proxy-site) and mail-addresses (and the ISP, in this case Yahoo may have IPs from where the use accessed when the mail-address was created respective used) and also cc-info for the hosting site (which also register the IP of the user signing up). The cc could of course be a stolen one.

So it all depends whether the scammers was intelligent enough to hide all their tracks or not.

Actually, to get Europol involved some stuff needs to be fulfilled:

    1. It needs to be organised crime

    2. It needs to involve more than one EU-country

    3. It needs to be initiated by a local law-enforcement from the countries mentioned in item 2 above.

Europol is not allowed to open cases on their own, as far as I understand.

  13. Yuh, I'm confused about that too, because the current Subs don't have the 'ROLEXROLEXROLEX' on the rehaut, so when did they have? And pluses and minuses of the lugholes? Obviously without looks better??

I checked the Rolex official site and the only Sub on display that has engravings is the 40 mm Sub in yellow gold.

  14. Chris at Eurotimez is selling the Euromariner WITHOUT the engravings on the rehaut.

Just thought I'd let you know ......... I'm not crazy about all that engraving.

Forgive a noobie here, but is the engraving found on the Gen as well?

I wonder as I found the thread below where the member in question used a Dremel to take away the engravings from a rep and also that the noobmariner rep doesnt seem to have the engravings either.

    I found the thread here:

  15. In my former life I worked 6 years as a security consultant and did - among all the weird stuff I did - forensics and internal crime investigations.

This was some 3.5 years ago so my skills probably need some refreshing (!), but start with the domain that was used to scam you.

Ah, wth, lets do it together....

The domain "ROYALMAIL-INTERNATIONAL.COM" that was used to scam you is still active according to www.dnsstuff.com

This particular domain was registered with a probably fake address and name:

    Alexa Stuck (lovetechmusic@yahoo.com)

    75 S. Serenity Way

    Greenwood

    IN,46142

    US

It was registered only a couple of weeks ago: Creation Date: 24-Sep-2008

From here you have to choices, yahoo.com keeps the IP-address you use when you sign up for a free account which could give you the IP where this scammer came from.

    It

  16. I think I reported it...but after pressing the submit button I was shown the Ebay-login screen.

Do I really have to be an Ebay member to report stuff? If so, my report didnt make it...

..just give me his address instead and I go to the seller with a baseball bat...

    *evil grin*

    Just kidding guys, just kidding...

I am a really nice guy although blessed with a kind of mean and evil look...I always get caught in the security checks when travelling to my company HQ in SFO....

  17. Recently, Royal Marines in Iraq , wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to let them know how much they liked their coffees, and to request that they send some of it to the troops there. Starbucks replied, telling the Marines thank you for their support of their business, but that Starbucks does not support the war, nor anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops their brand of coffee.

So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should support them by NOT buying any of their products! I feel we should get this out in the open. I know this war might not be very popular with some folks, but that doesn't mean we don't support the boys on the ground, fighting street-to-street and, house-to-house.

Thanks very much for your support. I know you'll all be there again when I deploy once more.

Sgt. Howard C. Wright 1st Force Recon Co 1st PLT.

IN MEMORY OF ALL THE TROOPS WHO HAVE DIED, SO THAT WE MAY HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE !

Also, don't forget that when the Twin Trade Towers were hit, the fire fighters and rescue workers went to Starbucks because it was close by for water for the survivors and workers, and Starbucks CHARGED THEM! ! !

AN ADDED NOTE TO THIS: STARBUCKS HAD STORES ON SEVERAL MILITARY BASES IN THE UNITED STATES. THEY ARE NOW BEING REMOVED BECAUSE OF THIS.

There are 227 Starbucks stores across the UK, and there's no doubt that our soldiers would get the same response from this company, so let us do our bit and boycott Starbucks to show them how despicable their actions are.

Actually this is both true *and* untrue according to Snopes.

    TRUE

Starbucks did charge 9/11 rescue workers for water, how bizarre it may sound:

    http://www.snopes.com/rumors/starbucks.asp

    UNTRUE

That Starbucks refused to serve marines seems to be untrue though:

    http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/starbucks.asp

  18. Guys/girls,

This forum will take me some time to go through (so much info, so little time!) so I wont post too many posts in the beginning, but I wanted to take the time to say hi to the forum.

My name is Dennis and live in Sweden.

I actually stumbled upon this forum while searching for reviews of seller of replicas, but I am really glad I found you guys...so Im staying....

I plan to purchase a rep or two in the near future, I have always had a good eye for Breitlings so a Breitling will be my first I believe, then probably a Patek Philippe.

I gladly take every advice on what models to purchase though!

    L8r

    Dennis
