  2. Are u saying that the Abyss mimics the PIPBoy M???? They are almost the same size!!!
  3. Great googlymoogies!!! She is beautiful W!! Don't sell it, hand it down to future generations!
  4. Thanks for the comments guys...it sounds like the dial swap is a no brainer!!! I'll post more pics after the swap. As for the crown guards, I'll hit it with the buffing wheel and get some sharp edges off of it.
  5. I recently finished my 1665 drsd project and would like to show everyone the outcome... The specs on this project encompasses Perfect Clone, PureTime, and finally Yuki 1665 parts. A gen crown was used as the finishing touch. I used the PT guts (ETA 2846) and bezel assembly, Yuki case and PC dial. For the PC dial, I baked the dial for approximately 2 minutes to get rid of the lemon fresh dial markers. It turned out pretty good IMHO. The PC dial was actually too wide and as a result I had to shave the dial to make it fit the Yuki case. The reason I switched the bezel assembly is that the Yuki bezel was actually too thin, but I did like the thought of a functioning He valve. So I swapped the Yuki bezel assembly for the PT one. Surprisingly, the swap over didn't require any modifications. So what did I do with the Yuki bezel assembly? The Yuki assembly is suppose to be gen like in construction. So I installed it on the PT case with an aftermarket superdome. The result...the crystal fit perfectly and you don't need the plastic ring that fits around the crystal. So...YES...a gen bezel assembly will fit on a PT 1665, as long as the crystal is also replaced at the same time! This should once and for all clarify the compatibility of gen parts with the PT 1665... Finally, I purchased this dial that fits on a gen 1570 and I was thinking of retrofitting it on to the 2846. What do you guys think? I believe that it is more accurate than the PC dial. Final thoughts on the PT 1665...guys it is a bargain for the price. If you aren't concerned with a functioning He valve, then it is definitely THE best buy for a base 1665 to mod. It will take gen parts, comes with a slow beat 2846, the lug holes are drilled out. The only mods I would suggest is a better dial, reshape the CGs and gen crown/tube. Thanks for looking!
  6. Looking good J...but aren't you suppose to be working on a bezel???
  7. yyyeecchhhh!!! Next we'll have chicken wing vodka...then Big Mac vodka...or how about pizza vodka??? This madness must stop!!

    Score!

    COMEON!!!!! Good find N!
  9. That's the range of prices I have been seeing on fleabay
  10. OP...it's been proven that the 29 jewel 7750 is a farce...it will and still be a unreliable movement until the factories do some serious modding to the movement...I would recommend you to stay away from them. See here... http://www.rwgforum.com/topic/89999-review-of-the-new-29j-daytona-movement/
  11. That's funny you should ask... LHOOQ, JMB and I have been working on a 1016 project with a gen 1601 case. It was basically assessed that a custom bezel would need to be made. I supplied a gen 1601 case to JMB so that he can fab a bezel that is based on the gen 1016 bezel dimensions. So far, it looks like everything will work. I hope LH will post some pics when the project is complete! It sounds like is going to be an interesting one! LH!!! Do you want to add anything???
  12. CS...I am wwwwwaaaaaiiiitttinnnggggg!!!!!!! I'm in for a set! I hope CONUS also includes Canada, after all, the States will annex us eventually!
  13. I own both the Puretime and the Josh 1665. IMO...The PureTime is by far the better of the two 1665, it does take a gen bezel set-up, as long as you swap the crystal at the same time. It also as a better crown position, the Josh is too low by comparision. The really only problem with the PureTime 1665 is that the crown guards and the crowns are too beefy, but this can be easily corrected. Take into consideration that the MBW itself is not correct and it needs to be modded.
  14. That's great Ubi!!! I actually used a part of my birth date for the serial on my 1665 project. But now I'm discovering that the Yuki case has it's inaccuracies for a drsd...what to do...what to do...
  15. WTF??? 200 channels and nothing on TV!

    1. plaifender

YES!!! The World Cup is the saving grace for TV!!!

  16. Get a pocket knife or a case back opener...pry up on the bezel a little bit at a time...all around until it comes off. I found that the DW bezels actually fit loose and it should come off with ease.
  17. The movement that the OP used was also called an LWO 283. They were common in B&M, Concord, Heuers, and Hamiltons. Because the crown position is not in the same plane as the pushers, the rep case must be thick enough for it to be redrilled in the proper position, . Here is an example of how just offset the crown is... I have a Concord with the LWO 283 and just don't have the heart to take it apart to make a franken AP. Great mod Daytona, glad to see someone did it!!!
  18. Man!!!!! I just finished a 1665 project!
  19. Sometimes one of those white Staedtler erasers work if the case back is not on super tight. Lay the eraser lengthwise, apply pressure while turning...
  20. NOW THAT IS A PROJECT!!! Very nice R! Definitely a rare beauty! Congrats!
  21. Have tried the duct or sticky tape ball method yet??? Dang...someone beat me to the punch again today!
  22. Yes...I believe that the dial feet are in the same position. The V23 is a base calibre and does not have the date function, the V234 does...The V23's are smaller in diameter than the 7734, so if you buy a case for a 715X project, ensure that it will fit a V234, or you'll need to find a movement ring to fill up the gap. I don't believe that Tudor ever made a 7131 or 7132...do you mean a 7031(plastic bezel) and 7032 (SS bezel)? DOH...UBI beat me to it!!! You're way too fast on that trigger my friend!
