  1. i didn't do anything to the case to make the gen movement fit. seriously, it drops in so easily that it was a lil ridiculous! the lugholes were drilled with 1.2mm bits, then i used a round file attached to my powertool to open it up a lil bit at a time. they were then polished w polishing compound on a toothpick.

the caseback is absolutely horrendous! it is way too think, has the wrong shape and lets water in as it does not seat well. i've replaced it w a display back made for gen 5513/1680s and it fits like a glove.

Azgjav nice project, but l remember you are the owner of the most beautifull 5513 MBW Franken builts there are - on all of the boards.

I choose on of those anytime, no matter how budget the Josh case is.

    Compliments to your watchmaking skills

cheers mate! :) just replied ur pm. here're some that i prepared earlier:

    Stunned!!!!

At first i did niot belive that you fitted a gen movement ect in such a cheep case but lit looks good!

How was the T19 fitting with the case and retaining ring, did it need any work?

Get a better pearl on there though that is quite off set,

    But still stunning

the t19 fits perfectly! it's tight, which is always good, but not so tight that u'll crack the tropic.

agreed! i'm waiting for my yuki pearl.

    azgjav,

I apologize, I didn't exprim well my thought, you did a great work, I just wanted to criticized this case with short out of reality crown guards

cheers mate! :) as much as i do not like the cgs and absolutely HATE the caseback, i think it is pretty awesome for a case that costs a lil over $100. you get a well made, modable case that takes gen parts and a really really good bracelet.

  2. Ok movement for a 5512, but wrong for a 5513 (should be 1520/1530), but I won't tell if you don't. ;)

Does the caseback fit without hindering the rotor's movement?

no not at all! but it is the weakest link in the whole watch. it is too thick and it does not sit properly when screwed down. it was letting water in even with a thicker o-ring. thankfully a genuine back fits! it has a display back on it now. :)

  3. it is a cartel 5512/5513 case, with gen tropic 19, gen movement, modified rep crown, the original bracelet w WSO 580 endlinks. hands from ebat and the dial is an ingod dial.

lug holes were drilled out to fit gen spring bars, the crownguards were opened up a lil bit to make it look less stubby. the original crown and crown tube were replaced w a rep and i managed to seat it a lil deeper into the body.

i know that this is the wrong movement for a 5513, but that's what i have lying around. i didn't expect this to work at all! i bought the watch mainly to canabalise its bezel/retainer and bracelet. i know that the CGs look short but i've seen gens with equally short ones, albeit after years of use and polishing. it'll only be noticed by eagle eyed peeps like u guys.

got this at least 5 years ago, was built by someone else 2 years before. MBW case w reshaped cg, back case engravings softened. gen crown and tube, crystal, bezel insert and pearl, gen 1570, gen 93150 bracelet. rep dial and hands. i've since drilled out the fake HEV and installed a working yuki HEV and a display back.

  5. i have the old case pam188 with vj7753 and unique serial number which i'm thinking of selling. it wont be cheap as it's nt made anymore and is very rare.

u'll have to change the subdial hands to black instead of silver to make it accurate.

shoot me a pm and offer if u're interested.

  6. simply amazing lume job!! :)

    Great review ssurfer.

    @ watchbuff

As far as I know, the gen in lumed, including the orange one, here's one I lumed, sorry I didn't get a glow shot, although it's glows like the rest, greenish...

As for how to go about luming it, either you do it yourself, or you get someone to do it for you. If you have never lumed, best to have someone do it for you.

  7. that is in fact horrible news!! will the rep makers adopt the selina (sp?) movement like what the gen companies are doing or will they stick to their asian made 2824s?

in any case, i can forsee the prices of reps w swiss 2824s going up.. :S
