  1. Yes, I completely and totally and wholeheartedly and emphatically agree!! Anyone wanna buy a bunch of 'genuine' sapphire crystals?
  2. The GMT movement should look like this: There are 5 parts used to convert the ETA/Asian 2836-2 to GMT. These parts also fit the ETA2846. I don't know, but I think they fit the ETA 2824 too. The GMT pinion, as stated before, slips over the hour/minute/second pinion. The gear under the GMT pinion turns the gear that is arrowed in the pic. That is a 3 gear stacked setup, while the non-GMT uses a two gear setup. Then there is the setup to set the GMT hand by the date wheel advance mechanism. If your movement was supposed to be a converted GMT when you bought it, then you need to find the lost GMT pinion. If it was not a converted GMT movement, then it would be much easier to just buy a GMT movement. Those 5 parts are hard to source, likely only through the membership here.
  3. How dumb of me, I should have figured that out! Yes, that sounds like the most logical problem. If one of your other ETA/Asian movements has one you're in business. If not, and you're like me, it's time for the flashlight on your hands and knees! The GMT pinion just slides on, so it does slide off when you don't want it to.
  4. 1.5mm is the size of the hour hand on ETA/Asian 28xx movements. The GMT pinion must be larger as it slides over the hour hand pinion. Can you borrow someone else's caliper?
  5. OK, calm down it's all 'easily' fixable. The ETA 28xx movements all take the same size second(25), minute(90) and hour(150) hand. These are the same as Tudor hands which uses an ETA movement. Clark's will have these but nothing to fit DG movements, he only carries parts for gens. The GMT 4th hand was the 'problem child' but that has been solved to my knowledge. Regardless if it's the big arrow or small arrow, the GMT hand for the ETA2893-2 (the ONLY factory ETA GMT movement) and the genuine Rolex measures 1.7mm. The GMT hand for the DG3804B and the modified/converted ETA or Asian 2836-2 and 2846 measures 2.0mm. (I do not know what the converted DG2813 takes, but it might be even bigger at 2.2mm, as I had a couple of those but didn't know where they came from!) Ken at Rafflestime has BOTH GMT hands. The language barrier is sometimes an issue. I spoke with him through email a few days ago and found that he wasn't sure about which hand fit what. If you have a caliper please measure your GMT pinion right where the hand mounts. That will tell us exactly which hand you need.
  6. That is a 'Super Jubilee'. It has a 'bump' in the center of the inside of the clasp, the small square in your picture on the bottom part of the clasp. The mating part has a short crossbar that grabs the square lump. If your crossbar is missing you might be able to find it or repair it. I don't believe it is adjustable at all.
  7. I don't know of any in the U.S., but Rafflestime has them, and a good selection.
  8. I concur. I looked into Marvin's eyes and I believe him. And I believe Marvin's white dial 6542 was the very first rep ever, and made by Fuk Yuen.
  9. Perfect Clones has a folded Oyster bracelet that some here have said was very good. For my eye the Jubilee looks best on a Pepsi GMT, and mine is just a decent rep. http://www.1-pc8838.com/rolex-boxsets-accessories-c-55_143.html
  10. I like the case and am using it to build a 6542. You have the options of ETA or 21J movement, and only a bit of beveling the edges makes it quite accurate looking. You need to sand down the crystal, it does not mount as the gen does, and glue it in, but that's how the cartel watch is done. These pics show the case beveled and I had it engraved between the lugs. The bezel needs beveling for a 6542, but should be good for a Sub. http://www.rwg.cc/topic/145214-its-a-red-letter-day/page__hl__%2Bred+%2Bletter
  11. None. Yuki has no hands sets that fit the DG movements. Try RafflesTime.
  12. It is either a 16700 or a 16710. The insert is the same for both.
  13. See reply #4. The only ETA movement that is a designed GMT movement is the ETA 2893-2, which takes the same size GMT/4th hand, 1.7mm, as the genuine Rolex 6542 and 1675 movements. All the other ETA movements that have a GMT function are modified to be GMT. Measure the GMT pinion. If it measures 2.0mm then you need the GMT hand that fits the DG3804B/ETA 2836-2 - ETA 2646 movements.
  14. RafflesTime should have the GMT/4th hand, large or small arrow, for the modified GMT ETA movement.
  15. The 6542 and 1675 hand stack has the GMT/4th hand on the bottom. The genuine movement and ETA 2893-2 are the same, taking the 1.7mm hand. The ETA 28xx movements that are converted/modified to GMT use a 2.0mm pinion, which is the same as the DG3804B. So Yuki may have sent you the wrong one. Use a caliper and measure the GMT pinion.
  16. The gen style dial legs will not fit the ETA 28xx movements, they will have to be cut to use it. If you decide to cut the legs to use the dial, dial dots, glue or Yuki's dial legs and tutorial on his site will help. BUT, make certain that the thickness of the dial allows enough of the GMT pinion through for the GMT hand to 'bite' on. The hour, minute and second hands should fit if Yuki said they would, the Tudor hands are what is used on ETA 28xx movements. The GMT 4th hand Yuki has fits the gen at 1.7mm, and will NOT fit the converted ETA 28xx movements. I have successfully broached only one, the others broke. RafflesTime has the GMT 4th hand that will fit the converted ETA movement at 2.0mm. Yep, join the crowd who have already been driven mad by this!
  17. All too often I run into the date being too deep in the window, not close enough. I use 3 dial dots on the overlay, which raises it, and makes it easy to service in the future.
  18. The watch in reply #7: If that is an acrylic crystal it is a late 16750. If it is a sapphire, then it's a 16700.
  19. I don't think so. The last matte dial was the early 16750, but had no surrounds.
  20. I don't know. It is lumed covering the surrounds, which I've no seen before on a chapter ring dial done correctly.
  21. My gen insert fits Clark's 16610 bezel perfectly. It doesn't use a friction washer, just the ring and the bezel.
  22. Will this bezel fit the 1655 cartel case we have been using to build the 1675? Can we make a 16710 with the lug holes using that case and this bezel?
  23. If you mean the hollow end links, I just bend the two hooks out slightly.
