  1. My least and most comfortable watch are the same. However, this is pretty subjective as to be honest most all of my watches are very comfortable or I wouldn't have bought them.

My Panerai 111 with leather strap is very comfortable, but with the rubber strap it feels a bit sticky.

I cycle many hundreds of miles every week and I like to wear my watch. I didn't want to subject a leather strap to that much sweat so I wear may Pam with the rubber strap it came with. On the plus side the whole unit is easy to clean, but the rubber doesn't feel great against the skin and the sweat that gathers underneath is nasty...

  2. It might still be worth looking, as I've heard that folks have seen PAMs, not only at reduced prices, but actually being offered the 'store watch' for sale, rather than being told they could look at it, and have their name added to a waiting list ;)

If you wanted to wind your partner up, you could treat yourself to a Patek rep, and then just wear it without saying anything, and see how long it is before she twigs that it's a new watch, and what it is ;) Of course, you'll then have the justification that as it's a rep, it's not a huge expense :)

As it happens, I walked out of the store with a PAM 111, which has been on my list for a while. They would not discount it a penny. Maybe Panerai won't let them? However, I got a very healthy discount on an Omega Deville for my girlfriend which made up for it. A slightly odd way to do things, but when I am spending that kind of money I don't care how they cut it.

I will not get a Patek rep. Any other one is fine, but I'll keep that special.

  3. The watch that I aspire to own is a Patek Phillipe.

My partner and I love watches and we have a number of them. I usually get a new genuine watch in the sales after Xmas. I've done very well with large discounts on brands like Breitling and Maurice Lacroix in the past. I wanted either a Panerai, a Patek or an IWC this year. I knew they would not be discounted after Xmas, so we went looking in the big watch shops on Bond St.

The other half told me that I would not be allowed a Patek. Apparently they had some adverts saying something along the lines of "you don't own a PP, you hold onto it for your kids". She has bought into that mesasge and has told me that "under no circumstances" will I be getting one until we have children.

So while I'm kept awake all night, at least I'll have a nice watch to let me know what time it is...

  4. This is nice! But with only 10 available to the public. the price doesn't matter anymore as it will be impossible to get one even if you are willing to pay!

I would buy this. It looks fantastic. However, I can't find out how you go about it.

Do I need to go to a dealer, or IWC direct? I am quite friendly with my local jewelers having bought several gens, including a Panerai and an Omega last weekend maybe if I was the first to ask they could source it?

If I could get one of these, the cash is waiting.

  5. Hi there,

I've a few nice geniune watches and I'd love a couple more. My two favourites are a Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece and a Breitling SuperOcean.

I was interested in getting genuine Panerai and was doing some online searching when I came accross you fine people. Now, I've never really been after a replica, but this seems like a fun way to get a load of different watches in many styles.

I'll be poking around a few parts of the site to learn before making a purchase.

    Thanks for the resource!
