  1. actually don't even know if DSN has a brown sandwich dial for lum... only know of his rads...

looking into a 177L, but trying to understand other options for a brown dial....it seems that the 118 and the 61 are Ti lums with brown dials....are they sandwich or sausage? Also, can the 177L caseset and sead's CG work with a DSN dial??? fantasy or possible?

    Thanks!

  2. HI All-

Here is a simple pictural comparison between the Jacob caseback vs the caseback you get with DSN's 27 series.

    First off,

Engravings: jacob has very nice and smooth engravings, while the dsn looks ok, perhaps it is etched?

caseback: i was told that jacob's blanks are from DSN's 24 subs. They are much thicker than what came with DSN 27.. The jacob is 5mm thick from the center, the DSN 27 cb is only 3.5mm. Also the jacob CB has a nice finish and nice tapered bezel, while the DSN 27 has a very flat bezel

Accuracy: we need to compare to a gen...i wont post since I don't have one, but you can find them on the web

    Thanks!

hope this helps in your decision!

  3. Thanks R-

my rep has a swiss 2892 with soprod power reserce...also like the analogy. Acetimer should be ok?

First off, I have been using an Acetimer for 2 years now with no issues. However, comparing and Acetimer with an Orbita is comparing a Toyota to a Porsche.

Acetimers are all about bang for the buck, and work fine with gens/reps. HOWEVER, the "fuzzy logic" aka wind clockwise for so-long, then wind CCW for so long, does NOT work well with one-way winding movements like the 7750's.

    AceTimer Pros:

Quite all things considered (mine spins 10 feet away from out bed at night without disturbance)

    Price

Hackable (easy to work on and even hack the electronincs)

    AceTimer Cons:

Fuzzy Logic is bull$hit. Would benefit from a CW, CCW, Both switch.

Pillows for watches. Very hard, only really work well with straps or bracelets for ~6.75- 7" wrist or 7.75-8" wrist with adaptor. (If your wrist is 7.25~7.5, or smaller than 6.5 it sucks.)

(I bought a small AceTimer (2+3) for my wife, but with her 6" range wrist, her bracelets don't fit, similarly in the summer when my bracelets are set larger than <7" they flop around.)

Not trying to discourage an AceTimer, as overall I have been happy with the 2 we own, just know its limitations.

  4. I enjoy manual winds, but I do have a couple of autos, and I sure don't like having to "swirl/shake" my watches every day. I have heard good things about the acetimer...would any of you have any reservations putting your gens on this winder? any reason for price differences... or is just branding and box finishing? perhaps motor or different types of rotations or...

    Thanks!

  5. any before or after date wheel shots...trying to determine if I should do.

    Thanks!

Hello PAM fans. I am finally done with mods for my 27a. I installed a T48 crown and updated CG and just got the watch back from Rex over at RG who installed the Leo datewheel. Anyway, i think this baby's done. Check out some photos and thanks for looking.

  6. Looks very nice as is, really does. However it appears that Rolli doesn't believe you yet :D ...so you better post few more pics - LOL!

The 27A caseback from Jakob's latest CB run would complement it even more, IMO.

    cheers,

    b

Thanks B, I have been out of it for awhile.. didn't know his CB is available.

  7. thanks. OK, it does seem for atleast the JV straps I see on paneristi, that the openings are pretty confined (and kind of act like a tube), however there are some 3rd party straps that although maybe wide (27mm), have a large hole for the wire lugs.

  8. i wasn't particular asking for the small tube between the two wire lugs. I was specifically asking if OEM straps for radiomirs come with tubes. i have 232 and I presume Rep factories use same wire lugs for both 45 and 47mm models, the spacing is larger between the two. this causes the straps to move around alot and i don't care for that. How do peoples solve this problem? or do they just live with it on radiomirs?

  9. I find that since Radiomirs have two short wire lugs vs. 1 solid long wire lug... straps tend to move around a lot. I have noticed that some straps have tubes i presume for the wire lugs to sit in. Is this common? where do you get tubes? Am i missing something?

  10. I think it would look great.

Lighter tan, caramel and sand colored leather straps make a nice visual fit with black aspect of PVD/DLC, IMO.

not to re-hijeck my original post...the 27a is SS, std oem black crock or jv gold or existing tootall?

  11. thinking about picking up an OEM JV gold strap for 27a (24/22). Any thoughts, any nice shots of your JV? Seen mostly on 232's. I have a nice tootall dk brown strap. I will post some shots tomorrow with my current shop, but i wanted to ping the group here as you know OEM straps don't last long for sale.

    Thanks

  12. Well it should work out cheaper to build one now, as DSN dropped the price of his PR PAM's a while back :)

Just the hard part will be sourcing a good date wheel now, plenty of crowns out there, a decent CG may prove a little tricky though. When you think of it, three mods is all it really takes!

    Cheers! B)

What about casebacks? I have been bugging jacob, but he is not comitting to a date.
