anyone have experience or comments of his 47mm radiomir sapphire crystals? they are $90...ouch
-
looking at a 232. I have seen the nice posts on making an "ultimate" using a hybrid of dial and hands from DSN and Case and case back from Cartel. I noticed Cartel sells it with mineral glass, so I proceeded to ask Andrew if the DSN sapphire would fit. He then responded that he didn't know, but that DSN buys his case from the same factory he does.... Which through me off because of the differences in the cases... I guess I can ask. I know he changed his luminor cases to standard "rep" cases... so maybe he has on the Rads? Anyone received one recently and know or can tell? If he is using a std rep, its easier for me just to buy the whole watch from DSN.
Thakns!

i will be in Beijing and have 4-5 hours free. Most of my co-workers go to Shenzen for buying rep purses or watches, but I will be only in Bejing and I thought i would ask. Is there some sight seeing that may be possible in this short amount of time?
Thanks,
P

this is so damn sweet! i am jealous

A VDB 3646 caseset, would be my favorite if money wasn't an issue. I am thinking about a DSN 232 with gunny caitlin 3. I am open to any other recommendations before I pull the trigger.
-
Any opinions on DSN's 3646 Marina Militare? is the case accurate? how do you get a high quality strap made for these? Do you need to send the watch as well to the strap maker like gunny or tootal?
-
really, no opinions here?

Hi All-
What DSN rep choices (21a, and others?) are available with the Moljina/rolex engrave movement and do you like them over his 232?
Any one have Lume shots with the watches that have Moljina movements? I assume the 232 dial is much brighter, but I am tried to see how much these watches have relatively.
Thanks

Thanks All! Sound advice. I will wait.

P4GTR-
That makes sense. i should go straight to the source. I just need to find someone to do it.
-
Thanks, DS. I will check on V3's as well. you right, he only sells V2.
I guess my question then becomes: Do we believe HONT is a reputable rep supplier? I think that answer is yes and I ask if his eta movements are new. The other takeaway to your insight is that it maybe more how the movement is serviced than the originator of the movement itself.
Anyone actually buy a watch with an ETA from HONT? Thanks
-
HONT seems to be a reputable dealer for this watch. He also has an option for a eta 7750. Has anyone tried this option with him?
thanks,

not sure about mods but i know a couple of 'rep-friendly' shops in south OC besides one in Santa Monica
in in LA, but go to OC all the time on weekends

hi All-
Looking for dial/hands swap, maybe movement swaps. Anyone with high recommendations?
Thanks!

Can someone tell me if the DSN dial is brown or is it the base black. The gen is a tabocco brown.
Thank you in advance.
Michael
dsn dial is brown like gen

i don't understand your question,
please more detailed and precise.
rolli
Sorry Rolli-
I meant to ask for the rep GMTs that have central seconds (29, 63), is it possible to replace with an ETA movement for those? But maybe the only REPS of the 29, 63 already have the ETA movement which would make my question non-sensical?
-
I would simply buy the Cartel version, and then buy the dial and hads from DSN directly. I really don't understand how people can charge around $500 for completed watches as the watch from the cartel is around $220 and the Dial and Hands are $60 from DSN. So it's about $300 for a very accurate rep.
Milesd-
That sounds like sage advice, but I will need someone to do the switch for me. I agree $200 for the labor, does seem high.
Thanks,

It appears that the ultimate 232 is DSN's dial, hands with Cartel's case, caseback, crystal, and crown. Anyone have any pictures side by side of cartel's case vs DSN's? I looked at both of the sites side by side and I "think" I see a difference (cartel being more square), but I can't tell if i am letting my prior knowledge fool me. Basically I am debating if I should get the DSN out of the box or commission an "ultimate". I do see differences in the caseback though and the crown does look more straight.
Thanks, pdnb

Thanks Rolli for the clarification! now what about the central seconds GMT reps?
-
on the 88, 89 or any seconds at 9, do the gens use an eta 7750 or different movement all together? Another way of asking my question is, could you put an eta 7750 into a rep GMT with seconds at 9, and would that make sense to increase reliability?
Thanks

all these posts on 8 day movements is stirring up my old love for the 190. I have a simple 183, but it aint no 190
would it just be "easier" to buy a used one on paneristi? or would i be able to commission someone to build? what would this cost me if possible?
Thanks

That is an incredible piece!! I think I want one now! A 42mm would be great for my smaller wrist! I definitely can't do the standard 45mm ones. Looks quite silly on me!
Thanks for the pics Lani!
Really sweet! Can you still get this rep? Who?
-
YES... didn't know that one exists. who makes the 297 REP? the markings are similar to the RAD 184/242 (i would prefer the rad, but know no one would ever rep that one)
-
Perhaps the 156 is what you are looking for.
156 is not my style either, but I do agree it does have a simpler face. I forgot to mention that i did look at the 23, 29, 63 series as well. Are their any others?
source for sapphire crystals?
