  1. I try to replace an eta 2824-2 movement for an AP Royal Oak Offshore and I can't see how to remove the dial. Some posts indicate fish hook clamps for this type of movement, but I can't see any of them. Any help would be appreciated. I have attached some pics. Thanks
  2. No Graphite etc.. does not do it the way this thing does. This lubricant is doing it on a nano scale level.. that goes way beyond the ones you mention. Also if they'd do the same as this, why do government/military customers buy and use it. So I don't know exactly enough as to why and how, and don't really care. Just test it and see. All I know is everyone who tests it scientifically, performance based, is buying it. I don't know if it would work on a watch and I don't know anything about lubricating watches or how to set it up. This is just an offer I am putting out there, that if someone has a test setup they think would make sense to evaluate this for watches without having to wait 5 years, they can send me the lubricant(s) I can get it back to them containing the particles.
  3. Interesting.. I am wondering how it is different from a rep. If there are any differences I am very interested. However what I am REALLY REALLY INTERESTED IN is, is the chonometer second hand of a GENUINE. Any way you think to get one of those. If so please pm me. Thanks
  4. The improvement is adding nano particles which fill the smallest gaps in a surface (as a dry lubricant), reducing friction. Every time a company is testing it they take it. So the result would be that it does not need to be serviced for a longer time.. maybe even never... I don't know.
  5. He is using nano particles... and it works.. he has customers all over, including many government/military customers... Anyway this is not about what it can do but about setting up a test if anyone has an idea how to do it let me know and I could facilitate it.
  6. Friend of mine invented a lubricant component that when added to an existing lubricant improves the lubrication properties. It's being used all over. Was wondering if it would improve watch lubrication if that component were to be added. Anyone (Zigy?) have any ideas how to test a watch lubricant. I do have the component in regular lubricants but if I get a watch lubricant I can have him add the component. Anyone up for a science project.. or better have an idea how to compare watch lubricants without having to wait 5 years? I can provide the lubrication component.. as long as someone can send it to me and I can have it added.
  7. I just got my 2 Concord C1's and they are PERFECT - ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. THANK YOU TO KINGWATCH www.kingwatches.net www.kingshowbox.com For getting me 2 perfectly centered C1's.. VERY HAPPY CAMPER HERE. I'll post some pics in a little while....
  8. Thanks for the feedback... yeah.. by the way in my post I meant I know a lot about tourbillons... somehow that got left out and ended up as -I know everything about watches-... certainly not the case. But somehow I can't edit my posts. Back to that experience.. what was mind boggling, as I was holding that $800,000 watch in my hand was that this was the most valuable ($wise) thing I have ever held in my hand... (so far my highest was a 12kg bar of Gold, or half a million in currency - but all that was a lot heavier or larger)... also the polish on that platinum case.. was insane.. perfection (polishing is an art by itself, don't know if you know that).. when we were sitting there we were joking that's the price of a house... and a real nice one at that.... imagine the equivalent of an entire house... in my hand.. just sitting there ticking away innocently... a house..... Kind of mind boggling.... Also what I liked is that with precious metals.. its just the what it is.. as a substance that makes it precious.. while with that watch it was the man hours, the engineering the time spent. It apparently took over a year to build one of those 51 watches... it came out in 2005 and they said they are still building it.. don't know how far down they are... the particular model we looked at had serial number 5 - apparently that particular dealer always gets the 5s... For the Lange model and this type of watches they are pure investment pieces. People buy it, then walk across the street to the banking vaults and drop'em off there. I then asked.. is there anyone that actually is using these as daily wearers.. and if that would't they lose value. They said that's perfectly possible... and occasionally they have someone like that. In regards to losing value, once you're done wearing it, you can simply have the watch serviced once the unit is all dinged up or whatever (u have to think about that for a second - we're talking a $800k watch) you just bring it in, they send it in, it gets a full on overhaul.. and you'll get it back brand spanking new... ready to be sold... like it has always been in the vault... (obviously you pay for that service..)
  9. Maybe it had something to do with the shape of your finger :-)
  10. The perfect watch is this here http://www.puretimewatch.com/index.php?productID=358 however get a brown-red crocodile strap and a rose gold clasp (just my preference - I hate the bent leather of regular straps) from watch prince.. and it will blow everything out of the water. Mine is currently in line for some AR treatment as well.... so can't show you a picture of what it all looks like.... I will when it gets back...
  11. My suggestion is this.. when I first got the C1... I thought yeah its off center ...but well its a replica.. but it kept bugging me and bugging me.. because everything else about this watch is PERFECT... seriously there's nothing else I didnt like.. everything BUT this one off center dial. Also my wife immediately noticed it as well.. its just something you notice... after all it is the one moving part so you automatically look at it. So my suggestion is don't settle for un centered.. it will keep bugging you to the point where you can't stand it anymore.... to me this is my daily watch.. or will be. Most dealers have short time periods for returns, some of them very short ones so truly make sure you are happy.
  12. So I find myself in Zurich, Bahnhofstrasse for business. My work colleague happened to be good looking, perfect arm candy.. so I spot this A Lange Tourbillon Watch (very high ticket item) in a window.. and I start drooling. So my friend says.. lets just go in... I was like this watch is VERY EXPENSIVE.. but she just pulls me in. So we go in, she asks right away to see THAT WATCH.. that watch happened to be a Tourbograph
  13. Hi everyone.. want to share my quest for the perfect concord C1. So I go to one of the trusted dealers sites here.. order the watch. watch shows up.. however I notice that the second dial at 9 o'clock is just not quite centered. Also a number of screws were lose and somehow the automatic winding did not work properly... my guess is a lose screw for the winding weight.. but anyway it was a no go anyway because of the second dial. So the dealer told me to send it back to him. I sent it back telling him that I'd pay extra if he can get me one that has a centered second dial. He then replied to me saying that he got the watch back and he can see nothing wrong with it and that he can not satisfy my request for perfection. So I got a refund after deducting paypal fees and freight fees the dealer apparently incured. Fine with me but still was a bit surprised with that answer. Here is what the watch I got looked like. This is actually the picture of the dealer's website... in reality if you'd move the minute hands the space difference at the top compared to the bottom (second dial) is even more obvious. But even with the minute hand covering part its still observable (it was my mistake not noticing it when ordering the watch). Anyway here is the pic of what the watch looks like... So I am not quite sure if my expectations are too high when expecting a centered second dial at 9 o'clock or not. Anyway I decided not to settle with non centered dials. So I kept looking at other dealer sites and I noticed that the pictures they show of their concord C1 models, at least half of them don't have centered second dials - it's unreal. We're talking $400/$500 reps here. So it truly seems to be a problem with that particular watch. So I wrote to a dealer and asked to get a photo of the actual watch he would be shipping to me. I got the picture and while the second dial is more centered then others it still observable that the dial is still not centered - and basically giving it away that it is a fake. (the rest of the watch is a part by part clone of the original). So I declined.. and kept looking After more research I have found one dealer who had photos of the Concord C1 (gold and silver) where both had perfectly centered dials. So emailed and requested one of each with perfectly centered dials in fact I requested the watches they took the pictures off or that had equally centered dials. To help explain what I meant I even sent them this visual here... I ordered both the gold dial and silver dial version, and I was repeatedly promised and assured to get 2 watches with centered dials. The watches have just arrived in LA.. and should be here in 2 days... I'll let you know how this story ends... If I am successful in getting centered second dial version units, I'll let you know what dealer it was that finally was willing to accomodate my apparently unusually high request for perfection... Oh why do I like this watch... well looks obviously, but also the part by part clone of the original is nice, AR coating on that model is spectacular. Also this is one of the only watches I know that are rather large, but that work well on people who have small wrists (like I do). The way their straps are attached makes the watch look less bulky on small wrists, while the black color of the strap removes even more size. So if you like large watches but have smaller wrists this is the one to get. Anyway I'll let you know in a few day how the story ends with the dealer.... or whether the quest continues...
  14. hmm interesting question.. here is my observation Go with a dress watch... because you'll most likely be wearing a suit which will most likely impress more than the watch. Regarding Rolex, everyone and their grand mother is wearing a Rolex these days, and most just don't know the difference between the different models, so I tend to stay clear of those. As for dress watches, I have found that real tourbillons work great... its different it's unique, its a story you can tell... and they just look out of this world... and no other Casio/Fossil or cheap watch can recreate that look... Otherwise I think its about being different, go bigger, go unique, go anything but your standard Rolex or any other watch that looks a bit too close to your regular Casio /Fossil watch.... or really cool is if you match your watch color to what you are wearing... for example wear an orange shirt, or tie... and an orange planet ocean.. how cool is that... And then again it all comes down to who the lady is you try to impress.. what she cares about.... which ultimately comes down to who you are...
