  1. I just got a Hublot Big Bang and the chrono subdial @6 does not reset to 0. It stays set at 3 on the dial even if I run them past 3 hours and try and reset.

What could be causing this and how do I fix it?

Here is a pic of how the watch looks with the subdial, hour marker, @6, you can see that it sits at that position no matter how long the chrono runs.

  2. So I am at the watch shop I usually get work done at and I am looking at the crap he has in his display case, low and behold I see this gigantic watch that is pretty attractive looking and its an automatic. I ask him to take it out, have a look at it and it has super lume, nice dial, small clear caseback, but its from a manufacturer I have never heard of. Ernst Benz.

I do so research and find out that this is a swiss maker and his watches are pretty high end. This watch retails for around $2100, and the watch shop is selling it for $500. Sounds like a good deal on a good watch.

Who has any experience with this manufactorer? Do you guys like the watch?

  3. Ok, I recently have become enamored with the pam polished bracelets, I think they look great and are a huge chunk of steel that only add to the look of the PAM.

My questions are, what PAM models actually come on bracelets in the gen world? and... What's your opinion on sticking one on a 111h?

Also, where the heck do you source one of these that are great quality? Our dealers? iOffer?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  4. I agree that being successful has little to do with the money you make. I do define myself as being successful but my top five reasons as to why do not include money or work.

I have a background in computer science and work for a Private Equity/Venture Capital firm, raising money for technology and alternative energy companies.

  5. Well....... I joined about 3 months ago and now have 3 reps.

I would have to guess that if we have 12,000 active users and on average each user has bought 2 reps then its plausable that the forum has bought and sold over 20,000 watches.......@ $150 average price that is $3M in revenue! Wonder what the margins are for reps?

I would think thats also a conservative number since many on the forum are addddicccts....sorry I twitched as I was writing that. :bounce:

Anyways, this is a great hobby and I am just glad that I found RWG. Great forum, one of the best that I am a part of.

  6. I would say waiting for the mods to be completed. I just sent my PAM 111 to get relumed and AR'd and I miss it. I loved that watch as is and I was hesitant to send it for modding because I didn't want to not be able to wear it for a long time. When I get it back though it will all be worth it and then there is no reason for it to leave my wrist/watch box.

  7. I was wondering the other night on what members use as their guide, if they have one, on what reps they buy? What I mean is, if your income allows you to theoretically purchase a gen of a certain type or price do you stick to that range when buying a rep?

I know that my situation allows me to buy gens in the 5-10k price range and I stick to looking at those types of reps. I can not afford a gen Patek, Jaeger, Vancheron etc... and would not represent that I could so I do not look at those reps. However, I can afford Rolex, PAM, Omega and do own gens of a few so I tend to stick to reps that are representative of the gens I can afford. This way I feel as though I am not grossly misrepresenting something I can't afford.

Does anyone else adhere to this thinking or is it , I buy the brand that I like no matter what?

It would be interesting to get peoples thoughts on this.

    Mike

  8. As a new member on the site still feeling my way around dealers and modders I personally applaud the admins for 3 reasons:

    1. Making inside discussions about the legitimacy of members soliciting business public

    2. Spending time to discuss the situation privately and determine the proper course of action

    3. Protecting/Warning the community and putting its members not in the know first

Ultimately people will make their own decisions but I will put my faith, although somewhat blindly, on their use of discretion in these matters.

  9. Wrong. The gen makers are very disturbed by the profits - real or imagined - they lose to reps.

I have to agree completely with this. I found this site only because I wanted to buy a Chopard watch and was interested to see what the reps of the MM XL looked like. I never contemplated buying a rep before I found the site. Mainly because I was under the illusion that all reps were junky and quartz movements not worth the metal they were stamped on.

Well....since finding the site I have bought 2 reps and am amazed at the quality watches that are actually made. They are not as nice as the Gens, never will be, but many are indistiguishable to the naked eye of 99% of the people looking.

  10. Well the watch maybe a picture of a GEN but my experience has always been when dealing with people you don't know and have no trust/verification that if they only accept wires then there is something fishy and some reason this person does not want to use a trusted form of payment.

I would tread carefully with any transaction that involves western union or these types of payments unless the seller can be verified.
