  1. Because you are honts associate?

    You are an obsessive liar?

    Bored?

    etc...etc... :p

Seriously...I deeply doubt that an IWC AD would not spot a IWC rep in SWITZERLAND. And finding out being a rep being happy about it. He must have been fairly new at the job or seriously retarded. On top of that they did the job for free knowing it was a rep I find very hard to believe. Actually the whole story is like a fairy tale.

    1) obviously you have never been to switzerland...do you think, the watchsmiths here are total geeks that spot reps immediately? definitely not...the stores carry multiple brands and the watchsmiths repair multiple brands. some of the watches for repair are just forwarded to the respective watch companies - like in the case of IWC. Where I work i am surrounded with watchstores...and sometimes I'm very surprised how little they know. I don't mean this in a disrespectful way but they are just not as geeky as many rep collectors - and i don't mean this in a disrespectful way either

    2) so far, EVERY AD watchsmith that i showed watches was very fascinated by good reps, wanted to take a look inside

    3) about the job being free: i walked in there, coming from work with a good suit and was very nice with them...they were very nice with me...they insisted on doing it for free, even though i asked to give some money into the "coffee-box"...he said it's a service they do and hope that people will keep them in good memory and come back to the store to buy stuff. actually very easy to understand....but maybe not for you.

    4) quit calling me a liar

  2. no matter what u say i still think ur bsing.. ok i kinda agree with previous post.. the freakin datewheel on the ingy is too different to the gen.. its like day and night.. how the hell does the ad or anyone who looks at iwc everyday does not know this?? a bit weird if u ask me.. and iwc ingy is the easiest to resize.. why the hell would u need an ad??

ur story just doesnt make sense to me.. i dont get why other are [censored] off.. im not coz i think its a [censored] story that u made up

    hello armin,

if you want, i can PM you the phone number and website of the store and you can call the watchsmith there and ask him yourself....

  3. ok guys,

i figured by now i have violated a rule, and i'm sorry about it.

    i apologize.

the story about the AD - yes, it was lame, i admit, and not helpful - was not the priority at all, i just wanted to post some pics for everyone to have a look at what the rep looks like. it was a long week and i was tired and a little drunk but was very happy about my new resized inge, so i posted it...

    and yes, i'm a noob.

regarding my post, i made a mistake but at some point you gotta get over it...dwelling on this and giving me crap is just as retarded.

  4. So you have not read the rules then?

    let me paste one here

So you may have all the qualifications but limited comon sence in my oppinion

i never went to the AD and tried to pass the rep as a gen...i told him it's a rep from begin with. i just needed someone resizing it, and the iwc AD was just the first one around the corner...i just needed to get it done and didn't have any tools on me.

  5. Yip we see the watch just no brain cells.

well, that makes me laugh a little bit. just so you know, i have a magna [censored] laude w/ summa [censored] laude in the master's thesis at of one of the most prestigious universities in the world. probably difficult to achieve w/o brain cells.

why do you have to [censored] me off like this? this took me a long time to take and upload the pics for you to see...

  6. Hey guys,

Today I got my ingy from Hont and I am totally stunned by it. I cannot believe how dope it is. First time I looked at it, i was totally amazed and shocked at the same time how good reps are these days.

So, I went home from work and by the authorized IWC dealer here in switzerland, to get it resized. I was afraid and ashamed at first since I had a rep watch, but i really needed to have it resized...so I asked them whether it was okay to have a rep resized and I would pay for it and that i was in a hurry. The watchsmith said "This is not a replica" and I explained him that it's definitely a rep....well he really didn't believe it as he said the bracelet, the AR, everything is just too good and if it WAS a replica it's the best one he's ever seen....so he begged me to open it up and saw the ETA clone 2813 (or whatever) in it and then he figured it's a rep (however he didn't see it was ETA clone, he thaught it was real ETA as it had all the stamps and stuff). but he was still totally shocked by the quality and also the other employees from the IWC store that he showed the watch to...and they were amazed. I didn't have to pay for anything and they were so nice...they said they do it as a free service.

As for the watch...it's dope. It's got nice AR (basically an invisible crystal) and the dial is the finest. craftsmanship is great. and the datwheel is not that bad even the font may be off. but i really don't care, no-one will notice!

Man this is the dopest watch and it will become my daily beater. It's totally awesome in every way and looks great.

I'm happy about this purchase. Hont BTW is a pleasure to deal with.

  7. Hi the most acurate version of the 3717-02 (spitfire chronograph) has one big flaw it has an incorrect back on it.

(Writing is wrong + wrong font, wrong layout, see Toad's excellent review for more details)

    example here http://www.puretimewatch.com/index.php?productID=179

However on this cheaper version the back is (visually) much more acurate:

Does anyone know if it would be possible to switch the case backs?

dude i don't know whether it's possible, but i think your idea is brilliant....i have been thinking about this before, taking cheap quartz reps as source for cases, dials, hands....

  8. The second hand is on crack. It starts stops and then jumps ahead. it's not Joshs fault seems like this is a common problem from the factory when using a dg2813 movement. I'm just [censored] they don't check these things and then you have to pay extra for them to fix the problems.

    ha!

interesting....exact same thing was the case with my noobmariner from andrew!

  9. i'm not sure why people insist that the brown and black quality is different? i've owned them both and they are the same poor quality. for accuracy, the genuine 5002 comes on a brown leather strap while the 5004 comes on a black alligator strap. the lugs are 22mm x 18mm, i'm not sure what they are on the 3717? i hope this helps.

    hey guys

i just cannot understand why you all say the straps are crap, in this review of lanikai he praises the strap and the strap looks really good on those pictures.

  10. Nigel: "You see, most blokes will be wearing it at 6.5. You're on 6.5, all the way up, all the way up...Where can you go from there? Nowhere. What we do, is if we need that extra push over the cliff...Seven. One bigger."

DiBergi: "Why don't you just make 6.5 the highest reserve and make 6.5 be the top number, and make that a little higher?"

Nigel: (after taking a moment to let this sink in): "These go to 7"

    :D

    hahhaha!!! spinal tap!!!

  11. re: your first question, the hand doesn't jump in one day increments on the genuine, so it's not impossible for the power reserve to be at 6.5 days on the genuine -- i just think people like the fact that if you were to keep the watch on a winder (as many people do for automatics), it would read fully charged at 7 days.

the reality is no one is going to look at your watch and say "hmmmm....charged to 6.5 days, huh?" that must be a fake

re: your second question, yes it is an easy fix (just nudge the hand to 7) ;)

    hope this helps :victory:

    deltatahoe

    dear deltahoe,

thanks a lot for the reply!

so that means it's not glued on and totally sticking to the dial?

if so i guess i will take the 5004 instead. i think it looks cooler than the 5002. should i get brown or black strap?

    thanks

    simon

  12. Dear all,

sorry for starting topics like crazy tonight...but there's a lot of stuff in my head i would like to get clarified, and it is probably also of interest to others...

i want to order a BP this weekend, and i like the 5004 better than the 5002, but i think i heard there is a problem with the power reserve at 6.5.

i think i read someone saying that the power reserve should be at 7, it is not possible on the gen to be at 6.5, it will always be at full numbers, e.g. 6, or 5, but not 6.5.

so my first question is: is that true?

my second question is: can it be fixed by a watchsmith? can he just move it up to 7? or down to 6?

i would be very happy if someone could answer me.

    thanks,

    simon

EDIT: this was the thread by itseme where it was first mentioned that 6.5 is no good: http://www.rwg.cc/members/Finally-IWC-Pig-...500-t94715.html
