Switzerland is indeed not part of the EU, so ordering from the EU would likely have little positive effect. Normally I'd agree that simply not responding is the best course of action, but in regards to Swiss customs I don't know. They have more and wider powers than any other customs bureau in Europe, so what goes here doesn't necessarily go there.
well....the question is that if iwc decides to open a case....how do they prove that someone actually ordered something? by checking his CC bills? no way...we still have banking secrecy in switzerland...
by hacking into the person's email account? i don't think so. they have not enough proof to get anything out is my guess.
-
Are you sure it is not a VAT bill?
BTW...Switzerland introduced a value added tax system in 1995. Basically, the Swiss VAT system is in line with the 6th Directive of the European Union (although Switzerland is not a member of the European Union).
no it is not a VAT bill. in the letter, customs claim i have imported a couterfeit watch.

deny deny deny,
tell them you didnt order it, you have no idea of why it was sent to you.
trust me, this is the best course of action
so it has happened to you before?
i already drafted a denying-letter that i may send to customs. will nothing happen after that?
cuz they wrote if i agree to the destroying and 60 bucks paying, i have to sign the paper within 30 days.
they write if i don't answer by signing the destroying-agreement within 30 days they will inform iwc.
hmmm......so should i do nothing and wait for iwc?
cheers!

I think swiss customs are not the best customs to deal with, as they know exactly all the brands and all the rules.
If they are saying just to pay 60 bucks, it sounds VERY fair to me, as they could also confiscate the watch, or even
charge you penalties and open a case for that. So i think if they write like this, it's quite fair, and i would not argue with them.
Thats my humble opinion.
thanks for the reply.
however, 60 bucks is if they confiscate and destroy it.
if i don't agree with that, they will tell iwc which then can decide whether they wanna open a case for me.
i think however they are not gonna do that for 1 watch.

hello,
i was sent an iwc 3717 from TT and it got took by customs.
now the swiss customs sent me a letter and said i need to pay 60 bucks.
they say since it was just one watch, they will not inform the brand owner (iwc).
they say i was importing that stuff.
now i think they cannot prove that i imported anything. should i just tell them that i don't know what they're talking about?
thanks for your opinion,

hahaha thanks a lot guys.
damn, i still have lots to learn.
i paid 100 ringgit, i guess thats like $35, for it.
it was definitely worth the fun, though.
it looks fresh and is actually quite accurate.
anyhow, a noobmariner arrived at my place just today, i was told....excited to see it.

Hey guys,
I was bored the other day and bought myself something that looks to me like a Vipmariner because it has a wok-like rehaut.
I'm rather a noob to rolex reps thought. Can you maybe have a look at it and classify this rep?
Thanks,
Simon

thanks!
but what about the reliability question?
how long will a teflon or graphite treatment last?

howdy SEeleven,
very intersting read. i have gone through exactly the same recently, also ordered a 3717 but from andrew (trustytime) and got it 2 weeks ago!
like you, i am very amazed how nice it looks and works and it's got me addicted on replicas!
i am now also considering switching the datewheel and - what i think is very important - adding some "true" AR to the glass.
because that's something bothering me, the AR on this watch is way too strong. it's very purple and i am nor sure if it even has any antireflective qualities. maybe it's just paint. that kinda sucks. for those who get aftermarket AR (from chieftang) it would be better if the glass came from the factory with no AR at all than with this fake stuff. because it's another $15 for chieftang to strip it.
but i didn't get in the chieftang run anyways
however,
enjoy this fine watch!

Hello guys,
hope everyone is fine. I think it is time to have a thread that gives answers to the following two questions:
1) Who offers the graphite treatment service for the seconds@6 A7750?
2) How long will it last? Forever? Very excited to hear experiences/opinions on reliability.
Thanks and have a good one!
Simon

who did the graphite treatment?

looks stunning! OMG is this nice.
can you elaborate on the graphite treatment by domenico?
is it good? how much does it cost?

i think andrew's still got them (or has got them again):
http://www.tt88time.com/index.php?main_pag...;products_id=25
looks like the perfect 4th gen to me (look at the logo, it's correct).
only problem: freakin' expensive!!
simon
update: no, he doesn't carry them, he just replied me to an e-mail.

thanks plaifender for a freakin cool review!!!

this is not correct. all dealers do not sell the same version... In the process of writing a review of Version 2 and V3 of this watch as we speak
cooool! really looking forward to that.
thanks plaifender!

Yup, this is as good as it gets Unfortunately, not very popular Panerai model among "rep-makers", at least compared to 111s, 127s and such.
Last version of 212 is a bit better, at least the numbers look better, but movement rotor looks like *hit ... http://www.jpc8118.com/00000pn21201-1950-f...bph-p-4985.html

z3k0,
hey am i right in my observation that the rotor kinda sucks on both 212 and 253?
simon

Ryan,
looking forward to your review.
This model has always been one of my favorite PAMS.
A real shame they always seem to make these with mineral instead of sapphire crystal that kills the watch for me more than the dial / number thickness.
Maybe a relume from a pro like The Zigmeister or Vac could correct the number thickness? Plus it would glow like the gen which the rep definitely does not.
rogerthat,
are you sure about the mineral crystal? josh says his go saphire (see link i initially posted)

Z3k0, if i dont care about the rotor and the back in general, would the 212 be the watch of choice if accuracy of the face is my main concern?
Thanx

Hey Simon,
I hope you can hold on before buying. I have just aquired the most recent updated subdial version as an upgrade to my previous version. This watch is in it's 3rd generation and each generation seems to have it's glaring flaws. I have in my posession both the Version 2 and V3 of this watch. I'm in the process of writing a small review which I'll probably post tomorrow or early next week. Most of your questions should be answered in the review. There's tons of info on the site in scattered places about the PAM253.. which is one of the reasons for me to write this comparison review since it's never been done before.
Stay tuned.

Hello ryan,
That sounds very cool! Thanks in advance!!! Sooo looking forward to this since i think the 253 is one of the coolest watches around!
It would be good to have a "version history" that shows the flaws of every version.
What about the 212? I think thats a cool watch, too.
Best

hey guys,
I'm a total Panerai noob.
But i like the 253 flyback and maybe wanna buy one.
but when i compare this one (and its supposedly the latest, best version): http://www.jpc8118.com/pn25301-regetta-fly...800-p-2193.html
....to the original one:
http://blowers-jewellers.co.uk/images2/wat...ack_regatta.htm
...then i see that the numbers are off (way too big and too skinny).
is this as good as it gets for the time being?
another question would be:
how accurate is this one (the 212): http://www.jpc8118.com/00000pn21201-1950-f...bph-p-4985.html
if the 212 is perfectly accurate, i would take the 212......i keep looking at the 253 numbers and to me they just scream "replica".
any advice?
EDIT: just found a site (possibly scam, but still) that seems to have 253 reps with more accurate looking numbers (smaller and thicker): http://www.replica-time.com/panerai-lumino...e6e594639b6dc70
thanks,
simon

can you elaborate on the different logo issue?
yes, joshes picture has the incorrect omega logo with "feet" on it, andrew's picture has the correct logo.

Hey guys,
Does anyone know whether the 3717 Pilot Chronos that Josh and Andrew sell are v3?
Joshua's: http://www.jpc8118.com/iw02007-pilot-chron...bph-p-3065.html
Andrew's: http://www.tt88time.com/index.php?main_pag...roducts_id=1571
Or can you recommend any other dealer that has v3?
Thanks for your help,
Simon
brand new beginmariner is a total mess!
in The Rolex Area
Posted · Edited by simzger
hello,
i just got a beginmariner from TT and it's a total mess. the seconds hand jumps like crazy. about 10 times per minute it just jumps an entire second instead of making a like 6 beats per second.
it's acting like totally on drugs. a minute is only like 50 seconds!
is it possible that i messed it up? i only set the date and the time, like i a always do it.
what should i do? should i send it back to andrew?
that would suck, though. that would take time til i get it back....dammit. maybe i should swap movements with my crapmariner from kuala lumpur.
check out the video and pay attention to the seconds hand:
regards
simzger
PS Edit: I don't wanna talk bad about andrew, he has given me great service so far....however i think this should have gotten better quality check.
PS Edit 2: seems like the erroneous seconds hand has a repeating pattern....check it out. it goes well for 5 secends, then takes 2 huge jumps, then goes well for 5 secs, 2 big jumps.....and so on
