  1. Hello all, Well I was doing a bit of aging to my cheap milsub (bleach, coffee, halogen that kind of thing), when suddenly the movement/dial & hands slips from my butter fingers and falls to the hard floor! The movement still works thanks heavens. Well the second hand has come free and I would like to refit it. I have attempted to simply push it back in, but have had no luck. Oh, the post-it note tip for picking up hands was useful. I have done a search but not found anything too informative and the advance search still seems to be down. So the second hand has a pin that will (hopefully) fit back into the pinion. But there already seems to be a pin in there and so I'm not having a huge deal of luck fitting the second hand back. Have I, or can you, shear the pin? I have included a few super sharp images as a reference. Any advice is appreciated before I resort to the ball hammer. Cheers Butterfingers Bob
  2. I'm in Sydney and always looking for a reason to share a couple of beers with anyone! Rob Oh yea! and to look at watches
  3. Nice new build, I like the darkside. Are any other (GMT +10) Aussies out by +3 hours?
  4. Some really nice pieces there John, onwards with the rise of the homage. bob
  5. PP dispute is an absolute no no in our hobby. Very disappointing to hear this. There are always avenues to resolve any dispute. Sorry to hear this Blik.
  6. The Datewheel mod is still unavailable on the working PR version..at the moment.( there are one or two solutions in the works ) So My guess is that it is not, that and the fact that he has had the PR mod done too.
  7. Am I correct in assuming that this is a faux PR movement though?
  8. The lug ends of the strap are too thick where they have been folded over and not skived to thin the leather. If you have a thin round file you can file the leather down to fit. It can be laborious work, and once it is thin enough you may have to tidy the edges. Just be careful not to cut through the loop!
  9. Can anyone tell me if a Submariner bezel insert is the same size as the insert on a 5517? I would like to replace my 5517 insert as the pearl is just awful. And I am aware that the 5517 insert should have marks to 60 as opposed to marks to 15, I just like the imbalace of the 15 ticks. I am really new to Rollies so this may be an obvious question...hope not. cheers in advance Bob
  10. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on opening a case. I have this 5517 Milsub that I just can't open. I have tried a squash ball, a ball of sticky tape ( just leave sticky on everything) and even a pair of rubber gloves ( washing up gloves) and nothing. The case now seems to be smirking at me. Short of using a claw hammer and going in the front I seem to be at a loss. Any other hints? ps. I don't want to have to buy a Bergeon 5537 ta __________________ bob
  11. Thanks for all the replies guys. @ubiquitous - Thanks for that info, very enlightening. I will have to pop the 5517 MilSub on the left wrist and the PAM 203 on the right.
  12. Thanks for that, much appreciated. bob
  13. Lol Once pointed out these things seem obvious. Thanks for your input ubiquitous. I see the minute hand is quite different in that the lume is pointed with the profile, and the full 60 ticks I didn't notice!! (Though I do like the 15 tick) But I must say my biggest gripe is with the "date" on the dial. So are these pieces available as reps components? #1-Dial, #2-Hands and #3-Bezel ( as I said earlier I think I prefer the 15 tick though). Oh and why hard to pull off? As in they are so rare. or just the now obvious and many flaws in mine. cheers again Bob
  14. Put on? I'm not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate ? This is a genuine question.
  15. Hello all I recently got my first Rollie, a cheap MILSUB, and I really like it. I am wearing it as a beater and am hoping to take a bit of the "new" shine off it. Heck I may even open her up and try to "age" it a little. But my Rollie noob question is this, is the correct dial available. (Mine has "Oyster Perpetual Date" on the dial despite not having the date which if I'm not mistaken is incorrect.) Cheers Bob
  16. I'll be back more often. It was a bit like being locked out and while you waited for the locksmith to turn up, you find out your neighbour, that you don't talk to often, likes the same beer & is pretty cool. Thanks for the hospitality and the free space to hang out. cheers Bob
