Sorry mate, iam a vicking.
I don't think it has the same subdial spacing. But even if it has the same spacing, i don't see any benefit.
Those had the ETA 2894-2 (chrono version of the 2892A2) with running seconds @ 3. Even if it had the same spacing, the seconds position is a deal-breaker.

I don't know whether it is living in a major urban area or due to summer approaching but for the last several weeks I have been seeing 6-10 PAM's a day. Starting to feel like I am wearing a Breitling or a Rolex. Not that I don't appreciate those brands as I do and happily wear them but I always felt PAM was a little different as fewer people knew what they were and folks asked about them. Now I feel like every twenty something in my town owns one. And I ain't twenty something.
Anyone experiencing the same thing?
Yes, I've been seeing more than usual out in the wild (and I'm in a location where there's a large amount of them to begin with). Wear a Doxa for a few months until it blows over

That looks like the one I modded into a 6204, and where I got the dimensions of the crown tube from. Mine should have the 6mm + crown, but I still have the big crown on it until I find one that doesn't cost more than the watch did. Mine reads 5508- 6538 in between the lugs, and with just a bit of modding, I think it looks very good.
The 6204 should have a 5.3mm crown AFAIK. For more information, see this post on VRF: http://www.network54.com/Forum/207593/message/1233081080/Here+are+the+two+pages+for+the+1973+R20+..+should+be+helpful

funny how he "changed the crystal" and then proceeded to ask the question " how do you open a caseback?" :bangin:
I believe it was mentioned that they had taken it to a jeweler to have a new crystal put on prior to posting pics of it. That's also why it has the wrong crystal.
I found pics of a prototype version...
That's an SRSD right?...not really the same thing.

I just got my Rolex cannon pinion and hour wheel back from being modified by The Zigmeister, so I figured I should share the results with the community. The modification increases the height so that they would be approximately as tall as the original Panerai 618 cannon pinion and hour wheel. This was needed in order to ensure that the hands could clear a NOS Panerai dial.
Enjoy.

Just for the record both Halo and CBR are banned.
They say that CBR is still around, posting under a new pseudonym on different boards.

Take a razor blade to this label, and you'll find a "Made in USA" label hiding inside of it (I'm not kidding):
-
$100 for the set.
You supply the original parts, I do the modifications.
Turn time, less than 2 weeks...
PM incoming...

It'll just get removed if you post on Paneristi.
Now, if you post a thread on The BIG Watch Forum or ViaPaneristi, I think it'll stick and the right people may see it.

I was reading about these the other day. Apparently a poorly documented promotional/prototype piece originally sold at a World Wildlife Fund event. Apparently the first Luminor to possess a Luminova dial.

Interesting. I might be in for 1-2. Is it possible to get them without the Panerai text?
-
Is that the low level quartz rep? There's a higher quality mechanical version with a much better dial...
I wouldn't say "much" better. The quartz has a better looking bezel too.
-
Probably a DSN Fiddy case. The case-back, CG, and plexi all look like DSN parts to me.
-
The rep was spotted during my shopping in Bangkok last week, it was ok until I saw the caseback and the movement was just great!!!
Neat. Not a 618, but a cool movement choice nonetheless. How much are they asking?

Great pictorial review. It is interesting because the thing that screams out rep to me first and foremost is actually the hands. This was my issue with the 253 as well. But it can be fixed using the same paint we used on the FM conquistador hands back in the day.I would be curious as to whether the dial lettering is the correct color as well.
I thought the same about the hands...ugly blue paint, but they got the shape close enough, so it should be fixable with some effort. I was thinking for a vintage MS build, that perhaps they would look pretty good if stripped and cold-blued (assuming that they're steel underneath).
As for the dial color, I think the lettering should probably a yellowish cream color and not the brown-gold that we have here. Check the MS related pics on WatchProSite:

sorry but the bezel is very bad.
As has been said many times. For the price ($200 + shipping if you know where to look), it makes a good base for modifying.
-
Looks great, thank you for the review! How is the lume? Is it possible to get a lume photo?
Cheers,
M.
I'll try to take one. The lume exists, but it's not particularly bright or long-lasting.

I wont cover the major, well known flaws of this piece here. Here are the facts:
- Stainless steel case, 52mm diameter, 57mm with crown, 64.6mm lug-to-lug, 14mm high
- 26mm lug width
- Lug bars with screws on both sides
- Screw-down crown
- SeaGull ST-1901 2-register chronograph movement
- Running seconds @ 9, chrono minutes @ 3, center chrono seconds
- Blue (painted) hands
- Display case-back
The dial states:
RADIOMIRPANERAI
MARE
NOSTRUM
The case-back engraving states:
OFFICINE PANERAIPB 0559927 OP 6731
STAINLESS STEEL <OP logo>
30m
The crown engraving states:
MARE NOSTRUMOne thing I noticed that I haven't seen anyone else comment on so far is the fact that the bezel is sloped, with a high center that gets shorter as it approaches the edge. I've been looking at pics of various gens, and although I can't find a shot that shows the bezel profile, I think either they must be flat, or have a more subtle slope than the rep. This may be the other "off" thing about the bezel that couldn't be discerned from the pics posted by the dealers.
The dial indices appear to be engraved, then filled with lume, so it gives a pseudo-sandwich dial appearance. The case-back engravings are nicely done, with a decent amount of depth to them. The case-back itself screws on and off smoothly using just a sticky-ball.
The crown engraving is done to the same standard as the case-back engravings. One thing worth noting about that is that the blue plastic that covers the crown during shipment got wedged into the engravings and took quite a bit of effort to remove.
The lug bars have screw-ends on either side, and you'll definitely want to check them after receiving yours, as the screws on this example were loose.
Here are the pics:

Yeah to name but a few!!
That one looks like you might have AR? Do you mate? Mine doesnt.... although specs say it has double AR...
No, it absolutely does not have AR.
One with AR, one doesn't? Now that's getting weird is there more than one source producing this watch? Or there's already V2?
Also no. There is no AR.
-
Just wondering thought there are many others who bought the watch too but no news or updates from them?
Here you go. It's neat enough, but the narrow crown neck and puffy bezel edges kill it for me.
-
Don't know, but linking directly to the pic on Paneristi is probably a bad idea.

The vintage dial for the silix 3646 cases also needs to be smaller in diameter at 36.85mm to 37mm otherwise the dial you're making won't fit. The standard 249 cali dial is larger. Can you make this change as well in addition to removing the "L" from "L Swiss Made L" & leaving the indices unlumed (but in plain white for ease of reluming). On the indices, the unlumed areas needs to be slightly recessed like the gen vintage cali's I have seen.
+1 for everything.
Near as I can tell, the gen 3646 dial is either 37mm or 37.2mm in diameter (based on conflicting reports...can someone clarify?), and the readily-available Silix cases take a 37mm dial.
Perhaps a separate thread is in order?
-
There were only blue and black and the infamous silver/white....you may call it "whilver"
...and grey appeared to be offered as well, from earlier in the thread:
The dial available is black, blue, white, and grey (probably).
22) TANFOGLIO Paid - Grey
Plus it looked like there were a couple of grey ones in this pic...could just be the lighting though.

I would not have ask if I didn't think it was a possibility.
