  1. As I said elsewhere, I'll have to defer to the experts here, but the bezel seems slightly too short, the case-back seems slightly too tall, and the outer body of the case looks a bit small compared to the case pics that I've seen (specifically referencing this thread on Big Watch Forum). I know that there were several revisions of the case and bezel though, so I might be wrong in my analysis.

...and as before, great job thus far! I'm very interested in what happens with this project.

  2. Main flaws are screws on the bezel which should be white gold but are made to look like yellow gold and the obvious display back showing incorrect movement. But some batches had solid caseback which made it much closer to gen. Bezel screws have never been updated as far as I know.

I've seen gens with bezel screws that were very close in color to the MBW/MBK. The biggest flaw with the screws as far as I can tell is that they aren't rounded at the top like the gen.

The other flaws not yet mentioned is the large gap in the AP logo on the dial of the rep, and the gaps in the grid pattern of the dial are much narrower than the gen.

  3. It would be pretty swell to find something like that anywhere in So Cali.

    Santee Alley.

    To give you an idea:

BTW, a lot of those reviewers are suckers....EVERYTHING in the alley is fake.

All the reps there that I could find were terrible, but you might have better luck. Also, go around the time of the month that their rent is due...the haggling is better, or so I hear.

  4. Someone over at RG pointed out that this is supposed to have an ETA 2892 in it, according to the original Perfect Clones page that the pics were pulled from, which would explain the high price that everyone was talking about.

Such a big deal was made over that stick-on emblem that no one even noticed that the movement was completely wrong.

  5. who wants to take the chance of scratching the back of their watch or introducing contaminates to the movement by taking the back off to remove a sticker that shouldn't be there to begin with?

If you think the rep "factories" are clean rooms and that you'll introduce contaminates by opening the back, I don't know what to tell you. You're alot more likely to have a dead movement in your uncontaminated case in 6 months than you are to have someone ever notice the rotor in your rep.

What I'm saying is, you have a lot more to worry about than a stick on emblem.

  6. The rubber glove/ball/duct tape trick has only ever worked once for me. If a case back is installed correctly, with the proper amount of tightness, none of these 'tricks' will work in my experience. If the case back is loose enough for any of these to work, it's not on tight enough.

    Of course, YMMV.

It's worked on every watch that I've ever tried it on. If it's not working, chances are that you need to add more size (tape) to the ball, or change your approach. I always take the bracelet/band off, and grip the lugs to apply force in the opposite direction, so maybe that's why I've never had a problem.

As for the not being tight enough, I like this quote from one of the caseback tool reviews I read:

It is a myth that a case back has to be closed with a huge momentum in order to guarantee water resistance. Many people use too much force when closing case backs. A gasket ring in good condition is much more important then too many KN closing momentum.
  7. Since its the same mvmt, should the dials from the none mbw fit right in? would be a great opourtunity to tune up the mbw, since the dial is that accurate.

Not sure. If not, I'm sure it could be modified, but does anyone else offer a non-MBW no-seconds / 15202 dial? The non-MBW Jumbos I've seen were all 15300 style, and don't have the same dial layout.

  8. I originally posted this over on RG, but someone mentioned that this may be a better place to ask.

I finally tracked down a couple of MBW RO Jumbos for sale, but neither one has a dial in the color that I had wanted. Since it seems that the usually sources for the MBW version have vanished (Paso and TTK), are there any other reliable sources for dials or other parts for these watches? I may need some bracelet links as well.
